Discussion: FARGO on FX @10pm Update: Season 5 w/ John Hamm

I love this series, SE5 EP 7 was great!!

Agreed.

The intricacies of the puppet / marionette show and the story it told. The world of "Camp Utopia" beforehand. The scene in the parking lot immediately following, then the hospital ending.

Well-crafted episode, and it only featured a few of the main cast members.

I was listening to a podcast recap of the episode and the co-hosts noted they really liked the song or sound effects of the "tennis volley" which was in the background for a few of the scenes which featured 2 people.

i dont think i've hated character more than I've hate Roy Tillman in my tv viewing history.
the only one that comes to mind is Geoffrey from game of thrones

i am happy we finally got Lamore state trooper its been awhile
but talk about dumb luck. he happens to run into roy and dot at the hospital and he happens to run into Danish at the gas station
speaking of Danish...wtf was he thinking going of the reservation (pun intended) and talking to Roy on his own turf...this aint a business man you dealing with it

I soon as Lars was putting on cologne to go to PT, i knew he was stepping and happy old girl finally came to her senses
question is with Danish dead and Roy having nothing to lose how does this end without even more collateral damage

all Roy's L are simply because he coudnt let Dot go and considers her property (the one that got away)

@gdatruth / @playahaitian / @blackbull1970 / @ghoststrike

Tillman's scenes have definitely been chilling. The domestic violence warnings on several consecutive episodes during the latter half of the season now.

The scene with Lamorne Morris at the hospital was very effective. That's essentially how shit plays out in real life when you know someone's in a terrible situation / predicament. When you KNOW something is seriously wrong, yet you're at a loss as to what to do. Watching his face and the nurse's ... their body language. "Help Me" Dot writes to the nurse ... her non-blinking eye contact with Lamorne. Him talking with Tillman only for the 3 other assholes to show up behind him.

Fuck.

It'll also be interesting to see what happens with Munsch and Gator.

^^^^ great breakdown

DANISH>>>>

One of my favorite actors Kids in the hall legend has ability to be silly and menacing and calculating all at the same time? Emmy award level performance.

this is a masterclass of writing and acting and costuming

Danish could no longer turn a "blind eye" to the things he does on the Lyons behalf

Love how there are 2 Mrs Lyons now and people keep confusing them... because they are the same in a sense.

Danish has done her bidding loyally for decades. Never missed a call. He KNOWS deep down she is a good person who has been hardened. He even kinda mentioned when he asks her in an earlier episode ARE YOU SURE? Just to soften her a bit.

But for the first time he doubted her. He thought she was either going to call him home, distract him or flat out tell him NOT to save Dot.

He couldn't do it. Dot reached him. He saw her for who she really was and felt guilt and regret in a real way. And that was uncommon. But he truly underestimated the Sheriff. Danish went with his heart and not his head. And he died over it.

If he had just trusted Lyon a little bit one last time and called her back, and told her the situation he would be alive. But he died a hero nonetheless.

Also ... listened to one of the Fargo recap podcasts and they mentioned some of the references they were liking this season.

The 2 Tillman daughters in the back of the car was surely a nod to The Shining.

Like in season 4 with the Wizard of Oz stuff ... a bit more of that this season too. "Dorothy" / Dot and her husband Wayne ... the Cowardly Lion / Lyon.

Tillman essentially being like a puppeteer or Wizard pulling the strings of people around him. Also the "puppet" stuff going on in the "Linda" episode. Dorothy at Camp Utopia / Munsch with the body decoy in the rocking chair and having him on a string.
