Dallas retiring Kobe's # is the same shameless dickeating and trying to appeal to casuals. Miami and Dallas don't have a deep history of all time great players and MJ and Kobe are the two most mainstream accepted NBA players of all time, so it's not a shock or mystery why they did it. But do you think the Lakers, Celtics, or Rockets who have had tons of HOFers play for them are doing that bullshit? Hell naw.
The league retiring Russell's # league wide after his death is totally different than individual franchises dickeating competitors. He's the most influential player in league history along with fellow pioneer Wilt so that was a no brainer. That's similar to MLB retiring Jackie Robinsons # league wide.

So, I guess it's ok for the rest of the players to do the same because I hate that flopping shit. If refs learn to know when to call fouls then a player wouldn't have to resort to flopping.
