New York is A different world

On 4th July 2007, the legendary DJ [PKA DJ Underground Bandit], leaned into the HOT97 all-mix weekend, in his inimatable and unequalled style, with a 90’s set to end all 90’s sets. He unapologetically opens the set, claiming Alotta vinyl up here, the CD and Serato’s on vacation tonight. And for tight on-air sets with shedloads of batshit crazy charisma [and endless jokes], this is arguably Funk Flex at his livest. Edited down by old pal, the mighty Rich Shrapnel from the full 5 hours, these are the finest moments.

‘I did not come up here to play Hammer and Young MC’…

But thats f*ck up because we ALL love that Bust a move record AND you can't touch this... front if yall want.

That's an East Coast set mainly and love every single record and probably owned each one on eithee tape, cd, etc.

But to act like we in NYC COMPLETELY ignored or hated the south or west just ain't true.

all that day hot97 had their DJs tearing it up for different eras - this was a dedicated show Flex chose to do
cause almost every song he played NY hadn't heard on the radio for YEARS

that was a real moment - Flex at his best with Cipha talking shit and Roseburg stan-ing out
it was a 5 hour flash back to NYC 92-94
