I'm a Dillon Brooks fan...

A sentence I never thought I'd type, ever... but he has been playing good ball for the Rockets and you can't help but love the intensity and toughness he brings to the team
I'm a big fan of his too. Dude can flat out ball. He gives himself an enforcer role, but his game speaks for itself. I'm sure his teammates love the guy.

See how white people do.. scapegoat "crime" (Black people) for corporate failure. The team fucking stinks and has for 30 years. That's why nobody gives a fuck.

It was a big theme in the replies when I was looking through Twitter after the news broke.

It isn't just regular white people but also lazy media loving anything that adds to a preexisting narrative.

And where do you think DC's black residents are on this? Sadly, I think the scapegoating isn't an exclusively white phenomenon. I would be very interested in polling on how residents view the crime issue and proposed solutions, broken down demographically.

I remember when some dudes were acting like Dillion Brooks was going to be out of the league in this thread, because social media told them he was garbage

The only thing he needed was a coach to curtail his shot selection

His playoff performance told us he was garbage.

Memphis not resigning him told us and him that he wasn't worth the money and trouble and that he was garbage.

He redeemed himself in the FIBA World Cup and in this season which shows that he's no longer garbage.

When I said white I also meant white establishments and institutions as well (media etc). They all collectively partake in those tropes and antics.

As for Black residents.. I view those as two distinct demographics. Natives (me), and transplants (you). Both parties are sick of the crime but natives know what a "crime ridden" DC really looks like. And this ain't that. And none of it has anything to do with Bowser.

Well that part still hasn't happened. He still doesn't pass. When he gets the ball, you might as well get ready to rebound or run back on defense.

Everybody who has played bball knows that feeling. My first ankle sprain playing ball was one of the worst pain I had ever felt in my life, up to that that point.

I remember that too.

Same for a deep sprain of my knee once. Thought for sure I had torn ligament(s) - but hadn’t.

Not gone eeeen sit here and lie... I was probably one of 'em

I hadn't really seen any of his games when he played for Memphis... I just remember that clown ass interview going at LBJ only for him to get his ass bust by him...

When the Rockets signed him I was like "OK let me watch his Team Canada games."

At that point I was cool with it. Now watching him play I see just how valuable buddy is. As long as Udoka keep him in line he's a solid 3 and D player...

It wasn't that he was garbage, it was him talking trash during the Lakers series, not backing it up, and then running from the media afterwards.

Last year, he talked trash in a losing effort against golden state.

Klay Thompson even said:

"When he retires, I don't think anyone will ever talk about Dillon Brooks ever again. I promise you. It's sweet right now, but wait 10 years."

It's hard to like a player that does that. If you talk trash, you need to actually win. That's why they put up that graphic comparing his career to Lebron's.

People just got tired of him.

Makes sense.

Damn, "You ain't seen nothin' yet" is not an encouraging take on the crime issue.

I'm going to keep an eye out for local polling on the issue...
