How is hanging this banner up any different? it's not a conference title banner aka a runner up banner, it's a banner for winning the entire cup. This is a new tradition and if it's one that sticks the Lakers(already hands down the greatest franchise in the NBA) won the inaugural cup. Obviously it's not on the level of a NBA title but it's still worth celebrating.

I think it is worth celebrating. But the idea of hanging up a banner every year for this seems like overkill.

Teams should definitely hang banners for every 60 win season before this tournament. A conference championship is a MUCH greater accomplishment. I think the tournament was a cool idea but it is not something to be memorialized forever.

It depends if it sticks or not, if 30 years from now we're still talking about the in season cup and it's mvps then it's worth it, the thing with situations like this is that we'll only know in retrospect. Like who knew if the first MVP award would have been something to memorialize at first? Now it's obviously a major part of the sport.

I personally like the idea of one banner and then adding the year of any subsequent victories on that one banner.

It's 6 games less than two months into the season and teams are eliminated not always by being defeated in the tournament or even win/loss record but it could all come down to how badly a team like the Wizards loses in garbage time.

Plus the game doesn't even count! Imagine a player breaking Wilt's single game scoring record in this much-hyped game and then we're all told that 100 points is still the record.

I think they need to expand the tournament a little-- meaning more games, like 10 rather than 6-- and change the structure to make the result more legitimate (fix the dumbass tie-breaker) if they are going to try to make it a part of history. The whole thing seems too ephemeral IMO.

I think they definitely need to tweak things to make it better, but so far it was a good start imo. I like the idea of expanding it, more games is a good start. I don't really have a problem with how the wild card slots are filled by point differential(in case of record not justifying a spot) but I understand how some might not like it.

Expanding the tournament would probably eliminate that since the small number of games makes it easy for there to be a lot of ties.

Overall I think it worked and gave us fun hard nose basketball in December, it could use some tweaking but it's a good start imo

As far as stats not counting, it's no different than playoff points not counting to overall career numbers, so I don't have a problem with that.

I actually had a huge problem with that, too— LeBron passed KAJ long before it was acknowledged! There’s no reasonable argument for excluding playoff stats from overall career numbers.
Yeah It's weird, the only argument I see is that it isn't fair since not everyone is playing during the playoffs, but that doesn't make much sense to me, but it is what it is so I didn't expect the stats from this to count when they announced it.

Dude got outplayed and locked down defensively by the GOAT and fans and media immediately attacked his physical appearance and character. He's big and Black not little and light skinned like the darlings, so he's not gonna get the passes those guys get. Just because old heads and dickeaters were upset about how the GOAT looked against him they got mean spirited with this kid, and it wasn't fair. The coverage yesterday from Stephen A and even from Barkley after the game was coon shit. Any character attacks while Giddey is actively playing IS coon shit. I'm glad he bounced back and beat one of this year's darling teams.

I literally said before the season, since the GOAT is old, fans and media would start clowning other younger darker skinned BLACK AMERICAN players like Zion and Ja. Ja returns next week, watch the "niggas ain't shit" tone of his coverage from fans and media, while a white boy that fucks little girls quietly plays in the league. Corporate America has always been sympathetic to pedophilia. Corporate America has always hated dark skin and dreadlocks. NBA is no different. :dunno:

Zion, dude you don’t have to get small but you need to trim up a little bit but nevertheless when you want to play you can play…..

Nigga has had a good season. Don't take away from the fact his weight took more scrutiny from Stephen Coon Smith and a fat coon from Alabama than a foreign white boy in the NBA making pubescent little girls suck him off did.
Not excusing the giddy shit. And 1 ain't got shit to do with the other. But zion was "the face of the league" pose to be. But the nigga plays about half a season yearly and is routinely looks like current age Charles Barkley on the court

Zion has never been the face of the league and is a 2x all star at age 23 with a 200 mill max contract to boot on a small market franchise with 0 history. He's right where he needs to be. It's ok to admit TNT pays Barkley and ESPN pays Stephen A to slander darker skinned Black American players for a majority White audience. Why don't they joke about your boy Cade? He was a #1 pick and stay hurt and stay losing. His mom is White tho, so fans aren't going to go at him with the same vigor.

You're got damn right he's never been the face of the league. Fat ass is always injured. He's SUPPOSED to be the face of the league.

No he's not. He's big and Black so casuals who don't know shit about basketball over hyped him to be LeBron. There is no player in the NBA good enough to be a league face or else they'd be one by now, especially playing for no fucking New Orleans. Average NBA fan ain't watched 3 full games of Zion play.

Cade was supposed to be a clear cut #1 pick, but he's been a bust and prolly will get traded. I also doubt he sees a max deal. He's been a far bigger disappointment, his lack of melanin, weird biracial appearance, and White mom is the only reason he doesn't get clowned for it and everyone sees that.

Coach Thorpe said they asked him to talk to Zion, because he was falling out of love with basketball

and also his step dad and team are in the way

all of it makes sense from his play and the way he went to dook :money: over Clemson :dunno:

Fat boy needs to man up and grow up. He has a kid now.

I knew the Lakers would change their mind. :dunno:

Adam Silver is trying to sell this for more money for a package and thinking long term. I'm sure they got a phone call.

The Lakers winning also helps legitimize it.
