@playahaitian

Glad you are liking season 2 of The Bear. Isn’t it wild how you often hear about the sophomoric slump (?) in entertainment, yet The Bear s2 was killing it. Solid character development and some of the best eps of TV all year. Any genre. Very impressive.

@ViCiouS

Saved season 1 of Mr. Inbetween for my mom. She is currently enjoying it in her rotation of shows with her boyfriend. She loves that balance of family stuff with the daughter and brother, the criminal world involvement, and the group therapy / mandated support group meetings and shit. The cheeky, malicious smile Ray gets, lol.

I told her what I really found impressive was as a writer-creator of the character, he’s not a seasoned or polished actor. But he’s very believable in the role. Unassuming in stature, but still rough around the edges enough.

Bro....

I JUST FINISHED SEASON ONE!!

I didn't even start 2 yet!

Caught the first 2 episodes last night too. Enjoyed it. You can watch both eps combined in just under 50 minutes.

Fave moments / callbacks = shitty money, valuable watch, betting on soccer, music choices in the car.

The fight scene at the restaurant in episode 1 was very funny.

And he actually forgave the debt?

The grandmother

The sister (who I cannot believe is STILL hit I remember her from CSI NY)

I agree I appreciate the speed it's NOT to fast or empty its just perfectly edited and written to get the message across in the time allotted

And it was only 120/60 seconds of commercials at the beginning of each episode. HBO MAX needs to keep it that way.

Take a look at some of the non-spoiler snippets of reviews from critics re: The Bear season 2 ... definitely let us know what you think about it in the near future.

Forgave the debt because he didn't want to get embarassingly fucked up again, lol.

Grandma was great ... questioning his friendship with Maniscalco.

"How am I supposed to watch all that Dragon shit?" with her HBO-less tv which only has basic cable

Agreed re: editing and speed. And definitely thankful for all the comedy-dramas these days ... the lack of laugh tracks makes these shows that much better than all the decades of sitcoms. It's funny to watch shows that balance out the amusing moments, with the darker or more violent.

That dragon-shit line was so damn funny

You could tell they improvised the following scene to acknowledge it.

I miss live studio audience reaction (I know some if that was fake too but still)

Sidebar...

Shoutout ray Romano that was voice was so damn distinctive I KNEW it was him before he walked out

Live studio audience definitely worked for key shows that were LEGIT funny. Not all the shitty comedies who had terrible studio audiences and / or laugh tracks =)

Agreed re: Romano ... heard the voice and within a couple of seconds said out loud - "That's Ray Romano, right? His voice is distinctive ..."

Encounters
2023

8/10

This is a new Alien/UFO documentary series that was recently uploaded on Netflix and I finished it last night.

There are only 4 episodes that run about a hour each. Each episode goes into detail on specific alien encounter events that are well known but rarely discussed. The series goes in-depth and presents new information on the encounters.

If you an Alien/UFO enthusiast, you will enjoy this series. No word yet if Netflix plans on continuing it at this time.

Synopsis

Four stories explore alien encounters and otherworldly phenomena, including strange lights over a town, submersible spacecrafts haunting a coastal village, an alien encounter with schoolchildren, and non-human interference with a nuclear power plant.

I've been enjoying this older docuseries over the course of the past year. My mom recommended it as she worked as an RN and RPN for other hospitals and medical facilities during her career.

I noticed it was airing in syndication latenight on Thursdays and Sundays on one of the local channels, so I set a DVR series recording for it.

Interesting watching the types of incidents they deal with and the teamwork involved.

One of the main stories they had on a recent episode involved a guy in his late-30s who had been stabbed in the head with a screwdriver just above his left ear.

Also interesting to see a friend of mine from junior high in the background as one of the nurses. She was a year older than me back in the 90s and introduced me to alot of the older kids at school ... that was fun as a freshman chopping it up with the sophomore girls in the hallways, lol.

Criminal Code

This crime drama based in Brazil definitely becomes more involving by episode 3 not to say the first 2 episodes didn't pull me in but by episode 3 was when I started caring about the characters and situations become more intense.
Maeve Jinkings as Suellen and Rômulo Braga as Benício are great as partners trying to investigate the efficient bank robbers lead by Soulless portrayed by Thomás Aquino in a great unflinching performance

The Couple Next Door

I thought this series was going to about one thing ....well two things so it was a nice surprise to see so many interesting and involving story threads. Can't wait to see where the second half of the episodes go

The Curse is interesting. I'm just 1 episode behind at the moment, but it's a slow burn & very cringe / awkward. It's NOT lol funny. Well acted though as a faux doc' / mockumentary of sorts, with an underlying tone of dread. As a viewer you're not quite sure where they're taking you ... but you have a feeling it won't be good for several characters. I was really happy to see one of the casting decisions as well. Not gonna spoil it - but it's the person who plays the 2 girls' father. Really happy to see them on screen.

Bookie is good and is an easy watch. First 2 episodes clocked in under 30 mins apiece. I liked the characters involved in the world of sports betting thus far.

I haven't seen any episodes of Lazarus Project, but I'm glad you are enjoying it & I have heard good things in the past year or two.

Yes - looking forward to Reacher's return next week. Season 1 was a pleasant surprise. Had that small world feel to it, despite being backed by a major player in Amazon. And it's reassuring when studios and networks already renew shows for a follow-up season before the newest season has yet to arrive. Shows that they are backing the product and like where things are headed and expect a solid response from viewers.

Just found out all episodes of this Sci-Fi cult classic are up on tubi.

It had only one season with 26 episodes

cea6bb637ef4ba315dc5d01bc17ac23c.jpg

I been watching an episode a day since I discovered tubi had the complete season.

I finished the other day and noticed tubi has it listed to be removed from its service on 12/31/23. So if you wanna binge it, the clock is ticking down.

Also, when I started watching it, something seemed off after I got to the 3rd episode. I looked it up and saw that tubi has all the episodes, they don’t have them listed in order of release.

I highly recommend printing out the list of episodes in correct order for the series to make sense. There are 3 episodes that deal with Col. Striker’s personal life, there is a 2 part episode and there are a couple of episodes that give reference to earlier episodes.
