Lakers starting 5:
D'Angelo Russell
Jordan Clarkson
Kobe Bryant
Julius Randle
Roy Hibbert

Kobe at age 37 playing small forward finished with 20 points on 7-26 shooting (4-17 from 3pt), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 TO's. -21

It was his final game in front of his hometown Philly crowd.

Kobe fans job is to make us forget about these performances and keep the focus solely on his peaks and championship years. That's why I don't ever see him getting a biopic film on his life or his career being examined in detail in the future, not enough nuance in his brand and his bad performances were historically bad with not a lot of fanfare.

I'm going to respond to this by reposting my brilliant Willie Mays analogy which Amajorjackass refused to address on the merits, and allow you to take a shot at it:

I'm not sure how many years Willie Mays was really bad but the most common description I've ever heard of him was letting the ball go over his head in the outfield as the definitory imagery of a once-great player past his prime.

Maybe you could knock his overall career for staying too long, if you just want to average the quality of each year and sum it up that way.

But, reasonably, 28 year old Willie Mays will always be 28 year old Willie Mays. There's nothing 36 year old Willie Mays could do to make the 28 year old version of him greater or lesser. If he at 28 was better than anyone else ever at any age, you could still argue he was the GOAT regardless.

I don't care if he played until he was 70 and was the worst player in the league for decades. The past greatness cannot be reduced or lessened-- the past is what it was. It is simply illogical to say that Tom Brady can't be the goat because he isn't good at 45, Willie Mays can't be the GOAT because he was a shell of himself at the end or that Kobe should be defined by his post-Achilles years when he was obviously unable to perform as he did when he was great.

The Big 3

Are you talking about Boston? A one title team??? I should put you on ignore for that.

Duncan, Manu, Parker

Eh. Four titles. I don't really consider them to be a big three, more like Duncan and his assistants. I don't believe Manu belongs in the hall of fame and consider him in the running for most overrated player of the century.

I'd personally put Jordan, Pippen and Rodman with their three titles ahead of this group with their 4.

There's only one big 3
