Imagine writing an entire defense of Tobe Bean when you are so out of supporting evidence involving actual Tobe Bean that you create entire arguments around Willie fucking Mays and Tom Brady that literally nobody cares to debunk, dispute, or entertain. This is wildly inane behavior.

No numbers, no metrics, nothing historical, just insults and deflections. And people think young people who never saw him play in the future are gonna see this as credible arguments? :smh:

LeBron at 39 (2 years older than Kobe was his final game) is putting up better numbers this season than Kobe's career averages in points, rebounds, assists, FG%, 3PT%. People gotta let one dimensional selfish bball ideology go.

There are different measures of greatness. I think LeBron deserves credit for his incredible durability. But too many people are equating being the best player 21 years in with being the greatest overall-- while that is a strong argument for him as having the greatest career and I don't think Kobe can touch him in that regard, the fact that injuries ended Kobe's career and that didn't happen to LeBron doesn't automatically make LeBron greater.

Another measure of greatness-- a stronger one IMO-- is evaluating players at their peak. Who's best beats who's best. In that regard, I still take prime Kobe over prime LeBron.

(This reply is to durham: KingStan, don't you fucking reply to this post-- you have nothing new to say and this is not meant to be catnip for your obsession.)
Peak to Peak - First off Lebron's peak happens to be exceptionally longer than any player EVER. The only comparable person is Kareem. Its not that he is older, he is still ALL NBA at 38, going in 39. So the Mays comparison doesn't fit.

Okay let's play a hypothetical game, set it at 10 years. Who you got?

Lebron vs Kobe, Lebron, cmon stop it.
Kobe vs Jordan, stop it - Jordan
Kobe vs Magic, Magic
Kobe vs Bird, Bird
Kobe vs Kareem, Kareem
Kobe vs Steph, EVEN - slight edge to Steph in my book
Kobe vs Duncan, Duncan
Kobe vs his own teammate Shaq, Shaq
Kobe vs Isaiah, look it up, watch the tape , watch the competition and leadership, close call :hmm: , but okay Kobe.
Kobe vs Russell, old man ball, but check the record, Russell .

Cmon, now.
Kobe vs Wilt, you taking Kobe over prime Wilt?? I wouldn't.

So how in the world is Kobe even in the conversation? Because he could score 35 shooting less than 50%, with excessive volume, and he was tough? Kobe never shot greater than 50%

No assist titles, no defensive player of the year awards, low rebound numbers, low steal numbers, how is he the greatest? It can't be.

5 chips  for the great, but :cmonson: , Shaq owned that 3 peat. Can't say nothing about the greatness he showed for those last 2 - he was a killer  , those two finals Kobe was out of his mind.

Kobe was never the best of his generation. He won one MVP, although I'd give him of of Stene Nash's, so lets say two out of ten he was the best player that year.

Be honest better defensive guard, Wade vs Kobe. See its easy, Wade. I "think" I would take Kobe over Wade, but it's maybe, not a definite.

Now if you go Season 10 - Season 20, that's where nobody else compares. That's the crazy false narrative of all this. Even with the Dallas mental collapse, Lebron still outdistances everyone.

No player has done the shit Lebron has done.. just because he doesn't talk Mamba shit to you, players acted like he wasn't busting there ass since he was 17.

Where are you in the basketball player hierarchy?

There are different measures of greatness.

As I read your post, I got excited anticipating that you were going to ask “let's play a hypothetical game, set it at 10 points.”

And I like my odds with Kobe in every matchup you listed in that regard.

While active players are mimicking the GOAT's celebrations from 10+ seasons ago while he's still playing AND wearing his shoe line in games more than any other shoe (LeBrons are the most popular shoe worn by NBA PLAYERS), this is what Gen Alpha thinks of the Old Heads king...

The court designs for the tournament are tacky but tacky in a fun way. Maybe next year they can play the tournament games with a funny colored ball.

That's one thing about Soccer/Football that I find rather interesting. Although I do understand you don't want paint to interfere with the feeling of the ball.

Redeem team Kobe is the measuring stick. That's the best he ever played, and the most complete basketball player he ever was. I'll put that Bean up against anyone else. However, he seldom was that complete, That's why he's not #1.

Btw Kareem is the best basketball player of all time.

And that's why they won't do it
