30 fucking years. Wow...
Same thing I said.

Crazy thing is....I can vividly remember going to Peaches to cop that CD. Baby moms was pregnant with my first kid and was stressing me, so i took a drive over there to get away from her noise. Heard talk about this group called Wu-Tang from my peeps up north like they on some other shit, Shaw bros. quotes, etc., so wanted to hear what all the fuss was about. Already was a Tribe fan after Low End, so I had M.M. too. Can't believe it's been it's 30 years, but....my son is 29, so puts it in perspective. Man, what a great time to be alive! "It was all so simple then".

I was a college student in NYC at the time. One day I was listening to the Angie Martinez radio show, walking up Sixth Ave near Gray's Papaya and 8th St on my way to the train. She was talking about an upcoming interview with this new group called The Wu Tang Clan. I wrote them off as some Asian novelty group.

Either the next day or a few days later, making the same walk around the same time, she's doing the interview and I realize they're black. Then she premiered Protect Ya Neck and I was blown away, especially ODB's verse.

Anyone in New York at that time knows that only Nas and Biggie/Bad Boy could even come close to moving the needle for the next few years. With the exception of perhaps 87-89, it was truly an incredible time in hip-hop.
