Marvel TV Discussion: Echo - Maya Lopez returns to the MCU in first look at Disney+ series

Nobody asked for this. I'm a comic book head and Echo/Ronin doesn't move the needle for me. It's just like with the eternals. Why waste the resources on characters not even hardcore Marvel fans give a shit about?

Considering she was already introduced in Hawkeye, if this story arc helps bring in Daredevil or Punisher smoothly and allows for an expanded darker MCU then I don't have any issues. No one asked for GOTG and they turned out to be one of the best things the MCU has and opened the door for more and better cosmic level characters. Just give me a good story and I'm game.

Oh, please...
Ain't nobody gonna act like he isn't the ONLY reason to watch this dreck:

Echo/Ronin in the comic book isn't interesting.
- She has no real villains of her own.
- She cannot carry a comic series of her own.
- She has no truly compelling story arcs or events that are memorable.
:dunno:

In short, I'm gonna let Cartman-Kennedy sum up this Disney+ series with one proclamation:

You can say the same for Ant-Man but his movies where necessary as connective tissue for the bigger (PUN INTENDED!!!) movies. You'd be lost in that last Dr Strange movie if not for Wandavision. Some of these shows/movies have been stinkers, but they all play bigger roles in the grand scheme.

Yeah, but Echo isn't Ant-man.
Ant-man became necessary to watch because he played a pivotal role in Captain America: Civil War. (And then later in Endgame)
This Echo story won't be necessary for the audience to watch to understand the larger MCU.

And I'm sorry; pretty much all of the Disney+ MCU series have been lackluster events which have failed please MCU fans in general like the 1st three movie phases did. With the exceptions of WandaVision, Loki and Falcon & The Winter Soldier the later MCU films, and Disney+ shows haven't been well recieved by fans & audiences.

Also let's be honest; WandaVision, Loki and Falcon & The Winter Soldier were really only "successful" largely because they were the 3 initial series right out the gate on Disney+. Fans were immediately interested in seeing where the MCU was going after Endgame. Echo doesn't have anywhere near the same level of fan interest or good will.

Echo in the comics (in her very short existence) has never been interesting.

Echo (the mute, ass kicking girl-boss) in the Disney+ series is now somehow even far less appealing...

:dunno:

The main point of these Disney+ series is too give less relevant characters who can’t carry a movie in theaters airtime on TV.

Also the series is too give more insight on major plot lines going on in the films.

Ant-Man wasn't Ant-Man when he first came out! Echo's story won't be necessary until they make the Echo story

Regardless of what you think of them, (Hank Pym and Scott Lang), Ant-Man's story is INTEGRAL to the larger MCU storyline.
Clearly, without them the entire Marvel universe as we know it wouldn't exist. (Both In the comics and on the big screen).
The same cannot be said of Echo in any capacity.
These are facts... :dunno:

And you know it's bad when the only reason people will even tune into this series is because of the villain, Kingpin. (Not Echo).:smh:

My daughter is Deaf so seeing a badass Deaf female character onscreen (first seen in Hawkeye) is something we're looking forward to, but, I'm not really that excited to see this.

I haven't watched any of the recent Marvel shows or Movies. Missed Ant-Man 3, GOTG3, Secret Invasion, Loki season 2, etc...

Sheeeit, last Marvel film I watched was Wakanda Forever and even that was a chore.

I might be tapped out my excitement for anything Marvel (Superhero) related.

Superhero fatigue is real.

By all accounts and recent history this show supposed to be DOA
But I can’t lie, that trailer was enticing (but then again that’s the point of a trailer)

I like that Disney is embracing more adult content and hopefully this show more in common with Netflix Daredevil

I also think it’s for the best that these shows and movies stand on their own

I Watch everything related to MCU but a lot of late as been meh and felt like homework

Some of the best comic book flicks stood on their own and weren’t connected to greater continuity

The trailer looks decent, and proves you can make a female lead superhero movie with pushing an agenda. My only complaint is once again they give women as well as black heroes generic costumes or regular clothes. Why not make them badass and look cool like they do the white males.

You do realize that the way they're writing the MCU is not the same as the comics, right? Ant-Man and Kang in the Quantumverse isn't how they met. It was "intergral" cause they WROTE IT THAT WAY!!! Unless you know HOW they write the Echo show you can't say it's not integral, cause they haven't released it yet. You don't know what is going to happen. These are facts ONLY for the comic the MCU these are your opinions, unless you're writing the show or have some insider information.

All episodes??? Either they don't have much faith in the show or it is being used to connect another show in the future if they're dropping all episodes at once.

See that's interesting

We got a whole group who HATES weekly releases and complain it drags, ruins the experience and the tend to forget to catch it.

But release the entire series folk claim that it shows a lack of faith by the streamer.

Blue eye samurai whole season dropped.

I don't think we can use full season drops anymore as a way to pre judge these projects

Because there are no big surprises or big cameos debuting or a surprise after credit scene on episode 5. That’s why they debuting all the episodes.

Disney knows there are mofos whose primary job is too FF thru all the episodes and get on the internet and blabber their big mouth and ruin it for everyone.

If Disney had released all of The Mandalorian Season 2 at once, within 15 minutes blabber mouths on this forum would have ruined it with the surprise and unexpected Luke Skywalker cameo.

Two things can be true that you have a group that hates weekly releases and a streamer that doesn't have faith in it. I try to not go by online reviews/numbers anymore cause one, the minute you have a female cast. You have an entire community that goes out of their way to shyt on it. For instance The Marvels, cats complain that it wasn't Avengers Endgame. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ENDGAME!!!! This is one of the reasons why I don't like "nerd" culture becoming apart of pop culture. So I can only imagine what they're saying about Blue Eye Samurai!

I am going based off of EVERY Disney+ show they were weekly releases. This one out of the blue is dropped with less than usual episodes and on both Disney+ and HULU.

I can see that, but to also put it out on HULU as well. That coupled with dropping all the episodes, that doesn't seem odd to anyone? You can make the argument that adding HULU expands their audience as Disney will be taking full control of HULU.

I hear you.

I actually think folk gonna be pleasantly surprised by this one.

Like said it's a new age...

The released blue eye samurai on freaking youtube.

Something going on with all these streamers we not gonna see till it's too late

Actually Hulu is merging with Disney+ I have both so Hulu is now a "Beta" Hub on my Disney+

This will be the MCU's first TV-MA produced show outside of the Daredevil / Netflix shows which are now some Multiverse non-cannon shit....

I think Marvel is using Echo to promote the merger with TV-MA / Rated R content...

All Disney/Hulu customers will have the merged app in spring 2024 (around late March)...

That is a REALLY good point! You might be onto something with that!!! And don't get it twisted, I am all in on this show. I have gone back and forth for this show in this thread, so I don't want to come across as not being a fan of the Echo character TV/movie/comic

I’m slowly suspecting all these streaming services are gonna merge.

I looked it up and there are over 200 streaming services in the US, not sure how many are premium services out of that number.

Create one Super-Streamer. It will be a off-shoot of what PPV is today or like a multi-plex theater at home.
