Israel Declares War After Hamas Attacks. UPDATE: Israel Ends Ceasefire, Begins Bombing Gaza

They’re not coming back once they leave smh.. sad situation

I dont think this will be good for Isreal. The world is different now. They will basically turn into Palestine in the sense of the world not caring for them anymore if something happens

Yeah right, once this is over Israel will start their PR campaign and the public will forget about it in a week or two.

I agree except for the money. That’s the only thing they have on their side. They’ll buy the world once again and folks will fall in line.

Gonna have to get everyone to collectively start hating money and riches for their to be any change

Wesley Bell to challenge Cori Bush for 1st Congressional District seat

NORMANDY — St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell said Monday he is ending his campaign for U.S. Senate, and will instead challenge U.S. Rep. Cori Bush in next year’s Democratic primary in the 1st Congressional District.

“With the world in a dangerous place, we need steady and effective leadership,” Bell said. “And we’re not getting it.”
Bell said he decided to switch races at the urging of Democrats who said “we need you in Washington, but St. Louis needs you in the House of Representatives.”

Bell made his surprise announcement at a press conference Monday morning at The SoulFisher Ministries, a Normandy-based nonprofit.

The contest will pit two veterans of the Ferguson unrest in 2014 against each other: Bush was an activist who helped lead protests; and Bell was elected to the Ferguson City Council in 2015.

Bush campaign manager Devon Moody, in a statement, called it “disheartening” that Bell would abandon his bid to become Missouri’s first Black senator and “instead decided to target Missouri’s first Black congresswoman.”

Moody said Bush would continue to put forward “a bold, progressive vision.”

The 1st Congressional District, which includes all of St. Louis and much of north St. Louis County, is solidly Democratic and about 50% African American. A Republican hasn’t represented the district in more than 50 years.

Bell’s withdrawal from a four-person Democratic primary, which will pick a challenger to Republican U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, is a move that has been frequently discussed recently in political circles — but not necessarily predicted to actually happen.

The talk of challenging Bush — a high-profile member of a group of progressive Democrats nicknamed “The Squad” — began picking up steam in early 2023, when questions about her campaign management surfaced.

In April, ethics complaints were filed after Bush’s campaign continued to employ Cortney Merritts III as a security specialist after he and Bush were married in February. One of the complaints was dismissed last week by the Office of Congressional Ethics, Bush’s office said.

Also, recent campaign reports show that the Bush campaign is cash-strapped and running in the red — in debt about $130,000, with less than $20,000 in cash on hand.

Bell already has a monetary lead over Bush. His most recent campaign finance report, for the U.S. Senate race, shows that he has $88,000 in cash on hand and no outstanding debt.

Then in the last three weeks, Bush has been drawing criticism for statements she made after Hamas’ attack on Israel, statements that those critics found to be sympathetic to Hamas.

Unexpected moves

This is not the first surprise Bell has dropped upon the politics of the region this year.
In April, shortly after saying on public television that he did not have his eye on any higher office in the near future, Bell announced he would seek the Democratic senate nomination.

The move was unexpected because the field already had a far more well-funded candidate in Lucas Kunce, who had statewide campaign experience from a 2022 run for the seat eventually won by former state Attorney General Eric Schmitt.

Further complicating Bell’s challenge of Kunce was an entry into the race by state Sen. Karla May of St. Louis, who has made many statewide connections from her 14 years in the state Legislature.

Bell made a big splash on the political-office scene in 2018, when as a clear underdog, he defeated seven-term incumbent Robert P. McCulloch. He was reelected in 2022 to a four-year term.

Bush’s surprise appearance on the St. Louis political stage came in 2020, when she defeated longtime incumbent U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay. Clay had represented the district for 20 years; his father, Bill Clay, represented the district for 32.

Bush survived a challenge in 2022 from state Sen. Steve Roberts, whose campaign was hobbled by past allegations of sexual misconduct.

This time around, Bush would have to face opposition, both local and national, over statements that some have labeled as anti-Semitic, as opposed to pro-Palestine.

Controversy over Israel

On Sunday, Bush continued her inflammatory remarks about Israel, accusing them of conducting an “ethnic cleansing campaign ... slaughtering” and carrying out “atrocities against Palestinians.”

The powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee — a well-funded lobbying group known for directing funds against candidates it deems unfriendly to Israeli interests — has publicly lambasted Bush for her recent stances on Israel.

Last week, a new Washington, D.C., political action group, Political Pivot, began promoting an effort to defeat Bush in the 2024 primary. The group was founded by Robert Schwartz, a St. Louis native.
Bush’s district includes several municipalities with a substantial Jewish population, including University City, Creve Coeur, Olivette and part of Clayton.

Bell on Monday was sharply critical of Bush’s position on Israel: “We can’t give aid and comfort to terrorists, and Hamas is a terrorist organization.”
When asked if he had been contacted by Jewish organizations about running against Bush, Bell confirmed he had before quickly adding that other groups, notably Black and Asian affiliations, had been talking with him about the move.

Bell said Bush’s statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict “is not what the majority of Democrats feel is the appropriate response.”
While saying that the U.S. should support a two-state solution in the Middle East, he added that “we have to stand with our allies.”
In Bush’s statement, her campaign noted that Bush “will keep pushing forward a pro-St. Louis, pro-democracy, pro-peace agenda. No matter who enters the race and when, that focus will not change,” the statement said.

Bell also took Bush to task for her well-publicized backing of the “defund the police” effort popular with some progressive legislators.

He called the effort, “not only misguided, but it hurt the Democrats. It gave Republicans the “red meat they needed” to take control of the U.S. House in 2022.

I think in the end, the people that love Israel will still love them, and the people that hate them will still hate them.

If we're being honest, the whole reason this is getting this much attention and emotional investment is because they are involved and people have visceral reactions to Jews and and Israel both ways.

There are other communities catching all kinds of hell this very minute, and you don't see mass protests for them, and you don't see 100 page threads on this board about them.

So it's not just about being against genocides, ethnic cleansing, or brutal oppression.

Jews are hated by everyone, even Neo Nazis and klan members hate Jews on the same level as Us if not more. It’s why so many Trump supporters all of a sudden support Palestine . Knowing damn well they hate those people , just not as much as they hate Jews.

True. But Christians support Israel and view the world ganging up on them as a sign of the end times and the work of the Antichrist. The Bible says the Antichrist will lead the entire world against Israel and also Christians then Jesus will return.

Don't underestimate how much religion plays into all this.

Which Christians? The ones supporting them are supporting them on some resources and money shit , ie Americans in government. I don’t know if a vast number of Christian’s just support Jews since many are racist and the others only care about their own bullshit ass Christian religion.

I wonder what his plan is for the rest of this war.

He says "we" are ready to be martyrs. But he says this from the comfort of a TV studio. Did Palestinians in Gaza said they wanna be martyrs? Did they agree to this????

Now that Gaza is being flattened. Now what?

Angry_staffer's trying to act like he's fair but he's twisting the words of the Hamas official to make them sound like terrorists. Ghazi Hamad said Israel should end the occupation and until that stops they won't stop responding to Israel's oppression. Funny the staffer didn't mention the Hamas official saying "we didn't want to harm civilians".

Who forced them to?

Them cats like the aid in but bombing the building

“Even the bread was not delivered.. From one of the bakeries in the Gaza Strip after it was bombed”

Evangelicals are lunatics and racists
They are. But the vote and they donate. You're not going to see them tweeting or at protests. But they are there. That's why you can't judge the entire issue of support based off social media.

Yeah but I don’t count them as a large majority. They are sub group of Christian’s . They are the Isis of Christian’s with ideology.

I mean I get it. I was talking more about the people. Viewpoint of a lot have changed. Like u said if the people dont return home it will be a constant reminder. But lets see

I mean that will always be there.

But there has been a shift where if u would ask just last year about Palestine you would get whole different reaction. Hell even I mean their own people are protesting. But again let see what will happen.

You didn't grow up in the Christian south. It's hard for people that didn't grow up in and around it to understand how pervasive it is. The video points out that they give more money to Israel than Aipac.

Why do you think abortion is no longer a federal right in this country if not for their numbers? They're the only ones that wanted it.

The current speaker of the US House of Representatives is a born again Christian Zionist. And that's more political power than 1 million people marching in the streets.
