All he had to do was stay his ass in Miami
You do know hes been to 5 finals and won two since Miami right? Why stay there and continue to let Riley ride his coattail? Same Riley that went to a press conference announcing his wifes pregnancy, and who then refused to pay Wade after 3 rings....

Imagine what this guy could have accomplished if he ever played for a coach who had a got dam clue...
That’s a scary thought cuz Lebron has spent his career having to basically be the coach and be the GM.

Lebron at point is needed BUT I’m glad his coaches are incompetent as a Nuggets fan but it’s frustrating as a basketball fan.

I’m a LBJ fan….I hate Maimi for how they treated Wade’s last contract. I’ve said that many times on here. I wanted LJ to stay in Miami because I know without a doubt, every single year they would have a legitimate chance to go to the finals every year, like they did for those four years. His last few years are being wasted in LA. Miami has had a bumb team reach the finals last year, and 1 shot away the year before….im speaking from a perspective of him winning more, had he stayed in Miami. He mostly likely would have 6 rings or more had he stayed, all that Jordan talk would be something different

For his legacy to never be questioned, he needed to leave Miami. Nobody can say shit about Lebron winning. He’s won with Stars, without Stars, he’s won in the West. He checked all the boxes. And trust me, I’m no Lebron fan but I can respect his accomplishments
I see it differently, I think Miami could have made him the undisputed goat, with 6/7 chips by now. But I admire him doing it his way. Winning rings with 3 different teams is huge in its own way

Remember when Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook played in OKC and they had a huge fanbase for a few years and headlined Christmas Day games every year against LeBron? Seems like an eternity ago.

That's a different conversation, though. I think @TIMEISMONEY had it right that you can't leave Erik Spoelstra and then cry about never having had the benefit of good coaching, that's just preposterous.

If he had good reason for valuing other things over coaching, that's his prerogative. But he left (at least one of) the best.

(I strongly disagree with Bomani applying that label to James Harden but it is not as indefensible as your applying it to Patrick Ewing.

Bomani did, however, properly frame the discussion with the preface on the weight of the charge! I think the example he gives makes it clear why it is so ridiculous to then apply that term to Harden.)

I feel like this is undercut by me seeing the same "first meeting in 5 years" branding when they played against each other in the preseason within this past week.

They should not have had that as a preseason matchup, especially with this on the schedule for opening week!

Erik Spoelstra isn't a great coach, I'd take Mike Brown over him. Spo has proven for a decade he can't get it done and missed the playoffs the year directly after LeBron left. Take away him being a white adjacent Filipino he wouldn't be viewed the same. No Black head coach can lose 3 straight Finals and be considered very good. If LeBron had stayed in Miami he wouldn't be a billionaire today, have all his outside interests, and he'd still only have 2 rings. Until Miami has any success without him the argument should be why did he even go there?

I guess you're just more of a LeBron hater than me because I think if that team could get to the Finals twice post-LeBron, then LeBron could have won at least one more championship had he stayed.

Pretty ironic how you use the "Finals loser" argument that is a core Jordan > LeBron argument and use it to denigrate Spo. The LeBron > Jordan people usually argue correctly that it is better to come in second and lose than to come in between 3 and 30 and that making it to the Finals is an achievement worthy of some consideration.

Steve Kerr done won 4 titles in 8 seasons and only lost 1 playoff series in the West, but @Costanza will say he's not a good coach to make excuses for their star player who had 1 playoff series win in 5 years before he took over as his coach. But Spo who hasn't won anything since Robin Thicke was putting out hit records is akin to walking away from Pop or Phil? I love the agendas.

Miami hasn't done anything post LeBron to warrant this he missed out on titles talk. You are OVERRATING their front office and coach because they are white. Change either one to a Black person and we could be honest about them not getting it done since LeBron left town. There's no excuse. He took his next team to 4 straight Finals and won them their first championship ever. Then joined a franchise that lost more games in the 2010s than any other and won a title in his 2nd season. Spo is just a guy that coached LeBron like Ty Lue.

 You are one funny and determined loon.

I have never said Steve Kerr is not a good coach. I criticize him because there is only one team that I watch dozens of times every year and so his shortcomings are very clear to me. He's a good coach, I just see his flaws more than all the others combined.

I thought Bud deserved to be fired in Milwaukee. From watching them in the playoffs, it was clear to me that they won in spite of him and would be better off with someone else. But I don't think I've called anyone else a bad coach in the past few years.

Yep, I was anti LeBron until I saw what he did in 2016. That performance definitely affected his legacy.

Fuck James and Daryl
