The problem is you can't trust them. McCarthy reneged on the deals he made. That was part of the reason they didn't help him in the first place. That and trashing them the day after they helped avoid a shutdown.
I have never understood why they are so dead set on the solution to our budget issues being cutting funds to some of the smallest portions of the budget that actually help people. And yeah, rhetorically, because I know the cruelty is the point. But I don't get why they're always allowed to press these issues like they are actual things that are crucial to address.
The 45 playbook isn't working anymore, all they did was piss people off with this tactic. (They are already back tracing that email)
They used SS as a piggy bank and know sooner or later it's going to catch up to them.

remember they stole that SCOTUS opening with Garland under Obama by simply not walking him thru the Senate.
It lead to no vote until Trump was voted in. A slick move that fell within Senate rules. That level move was never reciprocated.
Jeffries as Speaker now would be a move to push a progressive agenda to the front (passing actual laws will still be a struggle).
MAGA House members would have a fit - LET 'EM! Time to break that fever...
Maybe a young Black Speaker will motivate young voters to turn out to be sure Trump doesn't come close!
I can't imagine a world where a single GOP member feels obligated to "owe" Democrats anything. Even the more moderate ones still towed the line(s) that fucked the system in the very way you described. And at any rate, even the most level headed GOP member is still just power-hungry enough not to sabotage their entire political career just to do the "right thing". They've had chances and chances, and haven't budged yet.
Trying to act like this would be making amends is like when a boss buys their overworked staff a pizza. It has nothing to do with the problem, and doesn't do anything to fix it.

She's a master at this! Said her opinion then the minute they start asking her about policy she deferred to Hakeem Jeffries. That's the way it's supposed to be done! They tried to kill her and her husband and almost succeeded with him. She has every right to hate them and yet still behaves like a civil human being.
