I agree, and whenever I can get young people to listen I try to drop some knowledge on them, specifically their antics of disrespect and living dangerously will eventually catch up with them. The consequences range from abysmal job prospects, self inflicted lifelong poverty, addiction, long incarceration, live their whole life in a war zone, a crippling accident (GSW) and of course possibly premature death. I can back it up with names of people I know or knew, and some even they recognize. But if they don't have strong family support and discipline most go right on believing they'll be the exception, own the streets or rock the house, get rich quick, and live like their favorite rapper/celeb.

However I'm convinced that the media being produced and promoted to blacks for the purpose of provocative entertainment (often by black people) undermines the positive morals and principles we try to instill in our youth. The restructuring of the economy over the last few decades so that both parents are likely to be employed to afford a decent lifestyle plays a roll. The village construct has also broken down because people are much more transient.
