There was a study done by an Israeli university, Hebrew University I think, on the lifestyles, culture and the DNA of rural Palestinians that they eventually had to shut down because the conclusions were too "alarming" - namely that modern-day Palestinians were actually more likely to be the biological descendants of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple during Roman times than modern-day Jews were.
