Is Drake going at Pusha T extra hard??

Most at his level (and there are few) get the same pass.
He gets the highest pass. And I'm no Drake hater. When he first came out, I loved him. Over time, his material got weaker and weaker. Nigga knew he could drop anything because he had became such a mega star. That's my problem with him. This album really sounds weak as fuck. And to watch people spazz out over Drake and autistic ass 21 Savage is insane to me. Charlamagne is absolutely right about Drake.

I like Drake but honestly I remember him as a kid on Degrassi so I'm Hella biased. I can't remember much of his recent music. It all seemed just blah and disposable to me. I thought it was me getting old.

The last 2/ 3 albums got maybe 2 listens each? One sounded like forever 21 background track, 21 Savage sounds average to me, I haven't heard the new one yet.

I like the new 2 singles fine. Slime was cute, Charlotte the bars were kinda back to the cash money days and that isn't a compliment but I like hearing the boy rhyme straight thru still.

Drake is a dope artist and his run has been historic. He ALREADY has so many hits to fill several careers and could tour till the end days. So I'm fine as a fan of his. He ain't got nothing to prove.

But he ain't in my top 10 all time MCs.

But as an overall hip hop artist pop artist song writer icon etc? Yeah he up there.

Damn I think that's a tad harsh

He responded to meek Jay Z common Kanye pusha Kendrick Joe budden tory lanez

That's not bad.
Let’s break it down:

1. Meek - not really a respected emcee in hip hop. He ain’t making nobodies top 25 maybe 50 list. He’s a mere filler for todays sub par standards and all we had. More of a right place right time kinda guy. And it’s always fuck him for not taking care of the fraud the way he should have but I’ll give you this one just for argument sake.

2. Hov - they trade more compliments with each other than beef but I’m not going to entertain this. Hov is the GOAT and Drake is a Jew with connections that got him in the door

3. Common - “You ain’t wetting no one.. you Canada Dry.” Handled.

4. Kanye - not a respected emcee. Just a shoe designer that can rap and make beats with a god complex that sells clicks and views. Not actual competition.

5. Pusha - Still waiting ..

6. Kendrick - Again, still waiting. A raw emcee called him out and he responds in interview with Billboard and Vibe. Then subliminally throws a soft ass shot, only to say he “fell the for the bait on Control..” yea ok. Fraud talk.

7. Joe Budden - Perfect example of what I’m talking bout..

Making a Murderer - “My words ain’t ghostwritten I ain’t Drake/ That’s all gimmick I’m authentic I ain’t Drake/ Ain’t nothing wrong with it, only saying I ain’t fake" "Aubrey when you sub real MCs, you get murdered."

Just Because - "He just gotta bar up now / I’m still on ‘Energy,’ let’s see if he ‘Charged Up’ now.”

How many times did Buddens directly address & respond to the fraud only to hear a lame line with French and cryptic Snapchat rebuttals. Countless times one after another after another.

8. Tory Lanez - not an emcee but definitely Drake’s dancehall/afrobeat/pop-r&b lane

All said and done, does this look like a body of work from an actual emcee that DOESN'T deserve critique to you? His answers are always in interviews or articles, never on wax.

He’s a great entertainer and I’ve always said that but it’s highly disingenuous to say that he doesn’t deserve the criticism as a hip hop emcee. He dips one foot into the emcee arena and then backs out when heavyweights are in there, only to straddle the ropes against them and pick on opponents in a lesser than weight class to look good.

He deserves all the smoke and some in that regard.

Drake sent some bars at Rihanna too.... for some reason. He doesn't take losing well.

Wtf dude... you just ended his career and the academy is planning to take back 2 of his Grammys.

I said you were being a little harsh in like 2 sentences (while a little bit facetious on my part)

Then you proceeded to do verbal living autopsy on the man. Tupac, Ice T and 50 would all agree you might have went a little bit to far.

So I an quite clear on your position.

And I actually made all the points you made on other threads.

My point/joke was no matter what he had greats going at his throat and pretty much came out unscathed.

Relatively.

Even in this thread i said he a good mc but he can't be top rank.

I don't wanna derail by going into ghost writing.

But just overall everything you said was BASICALLY true.

I think your being overly harsh on the subs because EVERYONE does that now and to be fair most didn't know cypress hill dissed chubb rock? Or Biggie dissed LL?

and you can't down play the meek thing retroactively. It changed the course of careers and lives. And I mean marketing exposure endorsements etc etc. Drake fans got Meek parole violated.

And he can rap and he damn good.

I like that he created his own brand sound of hip hop (thank you Cudi Kanye Wayne) and his ability to adapt.

His latest stuff is just okay to me and he very rarely hit me emotionally. But I like his music. But he ain't THAT GUY MC wise and his fans should be ok with that.

And I think by and large they are.

Light skin?
Smashing women cats in here lust over?

I'm not even a fan of his music. Just commenting on the hate dude gets. Can't really wrap my head around it
Drake is this generation Jay-Z. He has the music for the women and they love him. Took me a minute to get him, but when the women ride in my whip. I just put him on and they start vibing.

Lol I’ve always taken this position with Aubrey.

When Meek and him were going at it, I said it was a marshmallow battle cause idk too many that actually rate Meek like that to begin with and ofc, look at who he’s battling.. the cupcake king, so I never downplayed it. It was never on the radar like that for me to begin with.

If Drake actually got into the ring and took his lumps, I could at least respect him as an “emcee” which he ain’t, for trying and I’d applaud that effort but we can’t get that.

If his fans would stay in their lanes about calling him the greatest rapper ever, I’d be cool with it but there’s easily 50-100 emcees that come before him for that title they WANT to claim but CANT.

Musically and commercially, he’s great. But his Swifties or Bee-hive or Barbie like cult driven fans be on him like he pays their rent.

It’s absurd.

Let's address the fan thing.

You should not let that bother you

EVER PERIOD

Fan is short for fanatic

It's not supposed to make sense.

You got dudes who hate LeBron because of the decision who not even NBA fans.
Hate Taylor swift but can't name one song (they lying btw) etc etc.

He is the GREATEST RAPPER FOR THEM.

And that's fine and understandable

As a long time hip hop fan you know the history more so you have a more educated perspective but music is SUPPOSED to make you FEEL.

If Drake makes them happy or emotional?

As opposed to KRS 1?

Then yes he the greatest rapper of all time

For them.

And that's fine

On the meek thing.

I disagree.

Everything is about time and place.

It was perfect storm stuff especially with the Nicki angle.

Meek was hot as f*ck music wise and social media wise.

And the ghostwriting thing should have been a kill shot.

But that 1 2 punch to the ribs plus the social media upper cut dropped him on his knees and he couldn't catch his breath

Don't discount that. It was expertly executed.

The other ones? Whatever. He was never beating Joe or Common or Jay. Like you said he threw jabs against haymakers. But he came out relatively unscathed. And those dudes don't even really rap no more.

Pusha? Even Kendrick? That's another thread.

I see this POV and respect their right to feel however they wanna feel and defend him. That’s their prerogative and they’re entitled to it, but in turn however, I also have the right to call a spade a spade.

So to his fans respectfully, sorry Ms Rosie Perez, it just is what it is.

Exactly

I just to be sure you know that it is a completely wasteful argument to have

Cause all of this is also subjective

You got legends who I'm sure you admire and rank top 5 or 10 who gave Drake a pass for ghostwriter stuff...

So what we supposed to do with that?

I'm good with him being the biggest thing in hip hop in a pop sense. Kanye was at one time too.

They know that Black Thought here. Jay Z Nas KRS here. Cole Kendrick here. LL here. Em here and the list goes on.

That’s why I threw in the Meek battle for arguments sake. Neither of em still ain’t on anybodys top 50 list, so watching two midgets battle when there ain’t anything else going on, gets the attention it deserves.

I kid. Sorta..

So long as they understand that their idol ain’t anywhere near this list, it’s all good.

Keep calm and carry on…

*in my Drake voice* “chea..”

Oh they can live but we coming with receipts!

YouTube is their friend!

It's fine though just like in sports

Dr. J magic bird Isiah Jordan Shaq kobe LeBron Steph...

Depending on your age your city etc

They are all the right answer for greatest.

But a TRUE hip hop head needs to respect the history

It's like you don't have to LOVE Shakespeare but to not recognize the greatness?

Does a disservice on the culture and actually Drake himself.
