As far as what you have mentioned, gas and food prices, those are not black specific items. Dems passed an anti price gouging billing the house that would give them the power to investigate if gas prices were because of gouging and take action. No republican voted for it so it didn't make it out-of the senate. They also voted against the child tax credit that helped families and children.
Regardless, as I posted yesterday, there isn't a lot the POTUS can do about gas prices.

When production cost go up 25-40% on commodities that have a profit margin of 2-5%, there isn't any room to take that profit from the overall cost of production.
Policies such as restrictions to access to oil deposits and war policy that disrupt globe supply chain are what caused the rise in food and gas prices.
