Yeah they did. There was a shutdown under Trump for over a month. Dems wanted to cave but Pelosi held them together, otherwise we would have had threats of a shutdown every other month.

What's really fucked up is that we could cut a few percentage points of our defense budget and literally be able to fund every single other program that they want to shave shit from. We don't even have to cut defense to make that happen, but my point is that they always shield defense spending as if we need it. No reasonably armed country is stupid or crazy enough to fuck with us, and it's not because we never cut spending on defense.
