I don't get it. Why sell the rights back to the industry? I mean if their willing to pay 225 million, that must be expecting to make at least a billion.

Maybe they don't want to perform anymore and will take a retirement check to do other things. They are basically just building up a business and selling it, right?
Nice position to be in to cash in your chips and have that kind of money for life.
Old musicians used to have to perform for life just to make ends meet. This is a much better situation.
A.I. will perform their music for eternity
Right, so take the check and have generational wealth on top of what you're already worth.
They know something that the public doesn't, these corporations have a plan.
These folks will be lucky if that money makes it pass the second generation.
Usually the later generations just burn through money, because they didn't earn it. Ask the Vanderbilts.
