Porter Jr. was reportedly returning from a night out to a hotel where he and Gondrezick were staying, according to ABC News. Gondrezick was upset with the hour in which Porter Jr. was returning and locked the door. After entering the room with help of hotel security, the Rockets guard allegedly "beat up" Gondrezick. Further details about the situation are unclear at this time.

This isn't Porter Jr.'s first run-in with the law. In August 2020 he was accused of punching a woman and pulling her hair while in downtown Cleveland. In that incident the woman alleged that Porter ripped out her weave while in an argument with Porter's sister and that the Rockets guard punched her in the face. Porter was not charged for that incident.

In November 2020 when he was still a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, he was arrested for being in possession of a loaded gun after getting into a single-car accident. He was later released after posting a $4,000 bond.

After one season with the Cavaliers, Porter Jr. was traded to the Rockets in 2021 following a locker room outburst in which he was angry that his locker had been given to someone else. Porter reportedly began yelling and at one point threw food, and despite Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman stepping in to calm him down, Porter remained "combative." After the incident he was told to clean out his locker and his teammates were told he would no longer be a member of the team. Four days later he was traded to Houston.

Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr.’s girlfriend was left with a broken bone in her neck after the NBA player allegedly relentlessly beat and strangled her at their Big Apple hotel, prosecutors said Tuesday — as he was released on $75,000 bail.
Porter, 23, is accused of repeatedly punching his 26-year-old girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, in the face and choking her until she couldn’t breathe inside their room at the four-star Millennium Hilton New York Hotel in Midtown early Monday, according to a criminal complaint.
The savage beatdown allegedly only stopped when Gondrezick — a former WNBA player – fled the room and was found bloodied and bruised by hotel employees in the hall, prosecutors said during Porter’s arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The pro baller, whose full name is Bryan Kevin Porter Jr., was arrested at about 6.30 a.m. Monday and charged with assault and strangulation after cops received a 911 call about the alleged attack.

His girlfriend told officers that Porter had struck her with a closed fist multiple times — leaving her with an inches-long gash above her right eye, prosecutors said.
The hoopster then allegedly “forcefully” squeezed Gondrezick’s neck with his hands, “causing her to experience difficulty breathing, redness and bruising to her neck, and substantial pain,” the complaint charges.
After being taken to NYU Langone Medical Center, doctors confirmed Gondrezick — who previously played for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky — had suffered a fractured vertebrae in her neck, the filing said.
Prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office had requested Porter’s bail be set at $100,000 during his arraignment, citing a history of alleged abuse against his girlfriend – including an incident where he rammed his car into hers.
Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer had also told the court that Porter, who lives in Houston, Tx., is known to have access to multiple firearms, and was arrested out of state in 2020 on gun charges, which were later dropped.
The judge, however, instead set the NBA star’s bail at $75,000 and granted a full temporary restraining order against him.

Porter – who signed a $63.4 million contract with the Rockets in 2022 – was silent as he left the courthouse and ushered into a waiting car following his arraignment.
He is due back in court Oct. 16.
The alleged assault on Gondrezick took place after the couple had gone out Sunday night and later returned to the hotel, police sources have said.
Gondrezick was asleep when her pro baller beau allegedly started beating her, the sources added.

“We are aware of the reports regarding Kevin Porter Jr.,” an NBA spokesperson told The Post in the wake of his arrest. “The league office is in contact with the Houston Rockets and in the process of gathering more information.”
Porter has a history of outbursts and was shipped from Cleveland to Houston in January 2021 after getting into a screaming match and tossing food when his locker was moved to a wall with younger players, The Athletic reported at the time.

He was also charged with improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle in Cleveland, OH in November 2020 – though the case was dropped a month later.
Then, in January 2022, he had to be separated from then-Houston assistant coach John Lucas during a halftime exchange that saw Porter lose his temper and throw an object, The Athletic reported.

The sister of former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick reportedly posted a message on social media telling Kevin Porter Jr. to “count [his] days” after the Houston Rockets guard was charged with assaulting Gondrezick at a New York City hotel Monday.
Kalabrya Haskins — widow of the late Dwayne Haskins, the 24-year-old quarterback who died last year when he was struck and killed on a Florida highway — shared the message in a since-expired post on her Instagram Story, according to Clutch Points.
“@kevinporterjr if you think you gone touch my sister & not get touched,” Kalabrya wrote, per the outlet. “Count ya f—ing days. Better hope and pray you’ll be able to ever walk again let alone dribble.
“You may have gotten away with this s–t in the past cause yo mama ain’t beat ya a–, but we spank lil punk a– painting nail sissy b—-es like you everyday. Don’t show up to that crib. We gone do it to you. Lil b—h.”

Kalabrya, who played basketball at Michigan State and currently works in the beauty industry, has not further addressed the situation publicly.
Porter, 23, is accused of hitting the 26-year-old Gondrezick multiple times and placing his hands around her neck, according to the NYPD.

Gondrezick sustained a fractured vertebrae in her neck, according to hospital testing detailed in a the criminal complaint, ESPN reported.
The pair had been dating since last year, and it appears each removed any trace of the other from their respective Instagram pages.

Police and sources told The Post that Porter — whose full name is Bryan Kevin Porter Jr. — was charged with assault and strangulation after they received a 911 call for an assault at the four-star Millennium Hilton New York Hotel at 1 UN Plaza in Midtown.
When police arrived to the hotel, they found Gondrezick — who previously played for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky — with a cut on her face and suffering neck pain, cops and sources said.

Gondrezick was sleeping when she woke up to Porter hitting her, sources told The Post.
According to the Daily Mail, police said the victim was upset with Porter how late he had been out, and locked the hotel door. He got in with help from security.
Porter was taken into custody at the NYPD’s 17th precinct in Midtown on Monday, according to video footage shared to X (formerly Twitter) by NBC New York.
Porter is scheduled to appear in a Manhattan court Oct. 16, the same day the Rockets play a preseason game in San Antonio, according to ESPN.
The NBA player was also ordered to stay away from Gondrezick, per the criminal complaint.

ABC 7 reports Porter pleaded not guilty Tuesday and was released on $75,000 bail, but not before the judge imposed a temporary order of protection.

Kysre Gondrezick is breaking her silence in the alleged Kevin Porter Jr. assault case — asking people to “avoid speculation” about what really happened in a New York hotel room on Monday morning before the Houston Rockets guard was arrested.
The 23-year-old Porter was charged with assault and strangulation on Monday by New York police for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Gondrezick, at the Millennium Hilton New York Hotel.
But a source close to Gondrezick exclusively tells The Post that she has not made a statement to the cops about the incident, and her lawyer further says that what has been reported from her side is “misleading and inaccurate” — without elaborating on specifics.
The source familiar with the former WNBA player told us that Gondrezick, “has not given a statement to [law enforcement], and complained to them that what’s being attributed to her is inaccurate and to stop it. These are not her words.”

Robert Hantman, an attorney for Gondrezick, told The Post exclusively in a statement on Wednesday morning: “Ms. Gondrezick wants to express her deep appreciation for the public’s support and prayers. In regards to our client, much that has been written in the press attributing statements to her are misleading and inaccurate. She has not granted nor released any statements on her own volition.”
The statement further adds, “She asks everyone to respect her privacy and avoid speculation as to what occurred and refrain from disclosing any misleading statements as to Mr. Porter. She asks that the press and all officials refrain from any judgment and speculation on this matter which will be rectified properly and with integrity. Thank you!”
