Dunno why so many artists sign over their publishing rights anyway.
Better start getting lawyers to look over that contract before signing your life away.
blinded by that advance moneyMost didn't understand the significance
And those who knew? Didn't want to share the info.
Folk didn't always have avenues like social media to distribute their art. Like said, some didn't really know, but many, at that time just wanted to be heard. They wanted to be on the radio and famous and rich and "stars", so they would damn near sign anything, while they were unknown and dreaming, to try and make that happen. Only later, once they get famous and see someone making more off of their music than themselves do they decide they shouldn't have signed it over....but the question remains, would they have made it if they had not signed it over to the company that took it and made them famous.Dunno why so many artists sign over their publishing rights anyway.

He knows he can't move forward and be taken seriously without repairing his tattered reputation so he's buying it back. Whatever his next venture is it won't lift off the ground if he remains as unlikable as he is. Period. This is a business decision... he needs his reputation in order to continue and it's just too toxic. We'll see if it works. Also, big rebrand relaunch of something significant coming... we'll see if this move helps/ works. But Unc...
WHY DO THIS NOW?
Especially when we have seen venture capitalists aggressively purchasing music catalogs recently?
What the hell does Diddy know that we don't?
People keep saying that like a new unknown 90`s artist can tell a record company back then that you are going to pay me x amount of money and let me keep my publishing.Dunno why so many artists sign over their publishing rights anyway.

blinded by that advance money
Right, I believe it's 30 yearsSomeone break this down, don't artist get their rights back after so many years anyways?
Cause if that's the case Diddy really isn't giving anything back.
Imagine how difficult be to turn down 200k when they come from nothing especially when its not tied to anything illegal. Shit there's folk from middle class fams that won't refuse that amountblinded by that advance money
It's heartbreaking. That part right there. Et tu, Diddy? Fuck this dude.
Black people always have to worry about crack ass crackers, it sucked for people like him and Barry Gordy the fuck over their people so much
He got a new albulm coming out.. he goes by love now. So love got to be a likable personHe knows he can't move forward and be taken seriously without repairing his tattered reputation so he's buying it back. Wonder if the black godfather passing had something to do with this change of heartBro... nobody been defending Diddy more on here than me.
I mean since City College
That man been through hell and back. I truly believe he ain't the bad guy he been portrayed as and the bad boy curse thing hurts him.
But he is also a serious businessman
And he has refused to do this for DECADES.
And I mean after artists BEGGING HIM PRIVATELY AND PUBLICLY.
So sorry I need to hear why NOW he decided to do this.
But regardless of the real reasons if true?
I'm happy for the artists and their families who will benefit from this.
Give that, give that.
Puff used the oldest trick in the bookAgain they ain't know the business
Most who DID use lawyers didn't realize those same lawyers were tied with the label
And OGs themselves didn't know or didn't want the new kids to benefit from the knowledge they received late when they themselves were unable to.
112 said one time a long time ago how Puffy does it....
-he owns the lable
-he's the song producer
-he's the video director
-he's the fashion/woredrobe person
-he's in the video himself which he gets paid for an appearence
This all happened at "Only you" video shoot where Mase,Total and Biggie who refused to appear in the in the video cause he didn't want to wear the leather jacket that didn't fit him anyways so Mase wore it and it's three sizes to big for him.So with all of that said their in debt to Puffy forever....
True some of these artists should had lawyers look over their contracts, but nevertheless, puffy took advantage of most of these people.people really act like a broke artist at 21 years old has stroke to demand their publishing. artists are fucking employees!
Wonder if the black godfather passing had something to do with this change of heart
Puff used the oldest trick in the book
He told artists it cost too much to start a publishing company
Just make your publishing a division of Justin combs music and he would give them their money once the check came in
Always gave them shorts
He did it but they were unaware cause I believe if they knew they were being billed for all of that things might of went a little different. So he should have done all that for free?
I'm sure he's long stroking these hoes with extra satisfaction because he won y'all petty beef.I was just shit talking Diddy the other day because of this very thing. Now, I got to eat crow just a little. But still, fuck him.
Lawyer looks it over tells them Puffy is fucking them overTrue some of these artists should had lawyers look over their contracts, but nevertheless, puffy took advantage of most of these people.
Continue to shit talk him, cause we don't know the terms of the release and word is Keefee D may possibly mention Diddy involvement in Pacs death. And those Bad Boy artists may know something as wellI was just shit talking Diddy the other day because of this very thing. Now, I got to eat crow just a little. But still, fuck him.
He got a new albulm coming out.. he goes by love now. So love got to be a likable person
What's crazy is the fact he's still alive after all those years doing grimey shit to his artist.I don't believe it. The nigga that has so much blood on his hands in the rap game finding his heart? Fuck outta here Puff. I'll believe it when those artists are buying new homes.
You know what I may be reaching a little bit, but homeboys trying to do a little distraction technique. Remember he gave a good chunk of money to Elon musk to buy Twitter and you see the Saudi Arabia bullshit is happening right now, so yeah, keep that in back of your head just in case.
