Black Woman Locked Up in Dubai - Thoughts?

I don't understand, why people go outside of the country and act like they can talk to someone recklessly anytime they want. You got people saying, all she did was scream at the guy but ignore that it's another country and folks need to respect and follow another country's laws.

Do I think the law is silly,I agree but if you're in another country and the laws says that it's illegal for a woman to yell at a man;you have to follow it.

I don't understand, why every time when an American is about to face punishment in another country;the family make it public just so that person won't serve any time. That shit annoys the hell out me since that time when that white guy got caned for vandalism in Singapore in the late 80s or early 90s.

Texas woman known as the 'Sassy Trucker' leaves Dubai after monthslong legal dispute, advocate says

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A Houston woman known online as the “Sassy Trucker” who had been stranded in Dubai for months over an altercation at a car rental agency left the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, an advocate for the woman said.

Tierra Young Allen, 29, took off on a flight out of the UAE and will transit through the United Kingdom on her way back to the U.S., said Radha Stirling, who runs a for-hire advocacy group long critical of the UAE called Detained in Dubai.

Allen paid a $1,360 deposit to Dubai police to clear the travel ban she faced, Stirling said.

It wasn't clear if Allen still has any legal complaints against her in the UAE, a federation of seven sheikhdoms on the Arabian Peninsula. Officials in Dubai did not immediately return a request for comment, nor did the U.S. State Department.

The circumstances of the April altercation at the unidentified car rental agency also remain unclear. Allen earlier had been in a rental car involved in a crash.

Stirling had described Allen as facing possible charges for “shouting” at an employee of the rental car agency, without elaborating on what Allen said at the time. Stirling accused the car rental agency employee of “raising his voice" at Allen and following her out of the shop in a threatening manner during the incident.

Dubai police disputed Stirling’s description of the altercation, instead saying they received a complaint from the car rental agency about Allen "accusing her of slandering and defaming an employee amidst a dispute over car rental fees.”

The UAE has rules that strictly govern speech far beyond what’s common in Western nations. A middle finger raised in a traffic dispute, a text message calling someone a name or swearing in public easily can spark criminal cases — something that foreign tourists who flock here may not realize until it is too late.

Under Emirati law, publicly insulting another person can carry a sentence of up to one year in prison and a fine of $5,450. Disputes over rental car agency fees have seen other foreign tourists stuck in the city-state in the past as well.

Well, some traveling folks will continue to find out the hard way that some American WILD norms are NOT universally accepted.

How much time was she looking at?

The article I read the police were saying she was never even locked up, after the altercation at the rental car place they said she was questioned and then released. The woman was saying the rental car place was trying to extort her for money to get her stuff back and that's when the argument started, if she paid the police $1300 to lift the travel ban then I believe they were just trying to get money out of her

Oh so she was just stranded there because they took her passport. They said she was looking at possible prison time for yelling though

This is a video of her vacationing/truck driving over there right before the incident, she said the only time they were required to cover up is when they went to the mosque

Oh so she was just stranded there because they took her passport. They said she was looking at possible prison time for yelling though
The police claim that “yelling“ story was false, instead they said the guy from the rental car place said she had slandered his name by something she had said about him, said she was questioned about it and released but never arrested. Her family said they have been in contact with her through her friends phone so I guess she still hasn't gotten her stuff back from the rental agency. She's headed home now and has a YouTube channel so I'm sure by the end of the week she'll have a video up telling exactly what she went through

I have no issues with this. In my travels, it’s more times than not, loud ass Americans that get hemmed up outside this country, thinking their “rights” go with them. The entitlement and privilege Americans walk with in the world is astounding and down right embarrassing.

There’s no better medicine for this level of ignorance IMO.

Next time, she’s gonna act right and keep her loud mouth shut.

Nothing worse than a sloppy violent drunk...

This is how bitches get dat Shawn Michaels right there. Nobody should have to endure this kind of treatment cause you can't hold your fuckin alcohol.

Elizabeth Polanco De Los Santos, 21, who attends Lehman College in the Big Apple was heading to New York from Istanbul with a friend when they were detained during a ten-hour layover at Dubai International Airport on July 14.

But what she thought would be a short stop in the UAE has turned into a months-long nightmare, after airport security was alerted to a brace Santos was wearing with underwiring on it. She told airport officials she had recently had surgery and was mandated to wear the surgical brace around the clock.

She was carted off to a private room and instructed to remove the brace, leaving her semi-naked and feeling 'violated'. She was eventually cleared to go, but since she was unable to get the brace back on herself, she 'gently' touched one of the female customs officer's arm to get her friend to help her.

The female officers accused Santos of 'assaulting and insulting' them, which De Los Santos denied. She was forbidden to travel home, and on Monday, she was sentenced to a year behind bars despite paying a AED 10,000 ($2,722) fine.

It's pretty simple, they don't want us/ our women over there. If she was there as a porta-potty a prince /his people would've been able to escort her through and skip this BS. But as common tourists......nah we're not welcome
