last gasp before they scale back

I expect only 3 or 4 streamers to survive after the next few years

Agreed. People already have a tough time keeping up with all the countless shows out there. Let alone far too many streaming platforms in the mix now too.

It's kind of crazy looking back to the late-90s or early-2000s. I remember one of the big crazes was often the DVD box sets for seasons. The networks and studios were seemingly making plenty of $ off of those once seasons had wrapped up. Back when DVD prices were on the higher end. People wanting to rewatch their favorite episodes or seasons before the days of more easily locating streaming / downloadable episodes, or when people would upload full stuff on Youtube when it arrived in the mid-2000s.

Have you had a chance to see more of season 1 of The Bear?

I was at a BBQ last night. My dad's girlfriend's son (early 40s) was asking me for some recommendations. He really liked Barry (binged the whole series) this past month and was enjoying Average Joe currently.

I told him to check out Joe Pickett, The Bear, and Reservation Dogs.

He's a fan of Yellowstone ... so I told him Pickett's a small scale / budget version of that based in a small town.

The Bear ... said season 2 was even better than the first. He's worked in a kitchen before.

And Reservation Dogs because it's been one of the best shows on TV in recent years, and s3 starts in early-August.

He was looking forward to adding them to the rotation ...

Special Ops: Lioness

Taylor Sheridan is already hitting another ball out of the park with this new series.
Straight out the gate the show grabbed me and my family members and I have some family members that shy away from intense violence.
Great script and plot with great performances . Can't wait for episode 3 of this already involving and intense series which feels like a blend of G.I Jane and Tehran

Invincible: Atom Eve Special

Thank you to Amazon and the creators of the show for dropping this over the weekend. Intense and involving as ever not only was this a great origin story but one that was shocking and surprising. Looking forward to season 2

pretty good short series
good acting.good plot
fine sister in it

The Tower is a British police procedural television series based on Kate London's Metropolitan trilogy book series. Set in London, it stars Gemma Whelan as police officer Sarah Collins, initially from the fictional DSI department. The first series follows the aftermath of the deaths of a veteran Metropolitan Police officer and a young Libyan girl who fell together from the roof of a London tower block. When Constable Lizzie Adama—one of the only witnesses—disappears soon after, Collins' investigation becomes two-pronged: what happened on the roof, and finding Adama.

This one sounds pretty good. I haven't seen her acting in quite some time, but enjoyed her work on Six Feet Under back in the early-2000s.

This shit is wild!!

Finally finished Bel Air season one. Much better than I expected! 7.5/10. Great casting. I liked it enough that knowing season two had different show runners is a bit foreboding.

I just hope season two has way less musical interludes and it could use improvement in pacing and character progression.
Carlton changed way too suddenly! He went from unreasonably petty half the season to way too magnanimous in forgiving his cousin moving on his recent ex.
I look forward to looking at it ahead of the next season but no need to dive in now.

"Sex/life" on Netflix is o.k.

It's about a former hoe (she wasn't a hoe for real, she just liked to get fucked a lot) turned housewife who can't stop lusting after her ex. She married a really good guy who treats her really well. But sex with her husband is boring.

She misses the wild sex her and her ex used to have. She explicity writes about it in her journal. Her husband reads the journal and tries to fuck her like the hoe she is, but he can't satisfy her like her ex. There are more plot twists I won't get into.

There's lots of simulated sex in each episode. But to be honest, after the second episode I got tired of seeing the wife's long erect nipples. She's really the only female character I've seen nude 4 episodes in.

Overall the series is o.k. It's something to watch when you're bored. I'd grade it a C.

Secret Invasion season/series finale(?)

It definitely had its moments. Was it dull at times and do i wish it had been a bit more involving ...sure. The acting and action sequences were great. I think sometimes people think they are going to get exactly what played out in the comic book. I'm not disappointed I watched the entire series instead of giving up after episode 1 and making assumptions about how the series would play out.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 7, Those Old Scientists

Actually reminded me of a Deep Space Nine episode. Definitely charming and fun. Having someone propelled from the future to the past. Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome did a pretty good job of copying the mannerisms of their animated counterparts from Lower Decks. For the most part the episode was as light as it was supposed to be

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 8 Under the Cloak of War

Definitely a tougher episode. The trauma of war and genocide An enemy becoming an ally but the prejudice still simmers at the surface. Laced with a pretty good twist one of the strongest episodes of this series

Great casting??

Carlton might be the worst casting ever

Mom's coming to visit for a few days. Got some stuff saved for her (to update her flashdrive). I usually give her a sample of some of the pilot episodes to see if she or her friends will like any of the shows.

The main ones I have saved for her are Shrinking, Joe Pickett, Average Joe, The Consultant, and the Capture.

Gonna save Dark Winds, Res' Dogs, and Only Murders in the Building too (but they haven't started their new seasons yet). They start within the next 1 - 2 weeks.

I tried to get her into season of The Bear last year. She was well aware of the critical acclaim and viewer response, but found the show too hectic and chaotic. I explained that was the point. Kind of wish she'd get into the show, as she'd probably really dig season 2.

For the Dark Winds fans - looks like season 2 - episode 1 is available online now.

Season 1 was dope. Trying to get into Season 2 but I can't, it's missing something

Shit ... I didn’t know season 2 of This Fool was also out now. Gonna have to add it to the rotation in August (same for s2 of Heels) ...

Going to check out the pilot episode tomorrow night. Really enjoyed season 1 last year. The lead is also good on Reservation Dogs (starting on Wednesday) and was GREAT years back on season 2 of Fargo. That whole cast (season 2) was excellent.

In the past few days ...

Just passed the midway point of season 2 of Joe Pickett.

Checked out the first 2 episodes of Reservation Dogs' final season.

Really enjoyed the season 2 premiere of Dark Winds.

Going to continue with episodes 4 and 5 of Average Joe today or tomorrow.

Going to circle back to Full Circle and Hijack soon.
