How best to reveal yourselves to a lower civilization/society without completely collapsing it overnight?
I would give them some of our old tech to work on, something to push their smartest intellects to stretch their minds. As the stories of our vehicles and tech trickles down into their society we can then introduce actual bodies for them to examine, as well as the abduction events, to let them know "these aren't just autonomous drones", we can get to Earth from wherever it is we come from. That will also eventually trickle down into the society, and help prepare the zeitgeist for the next steps that lead to the inevitable reveal that ALIENS ARE REAL and direct contact can/will eventually begin ...
The next steps are exactly what is happening now. The military releases information and then gauges the public on it's ability to handle it. They will reveal more if the public is ready for more or they will shut it down if it is deemed you aint ready. We have been down this road several times, and each time the public wasn't ready so the disclosure was put on pause for several years, then repeated all over again. Are we going to make it to full disclosure this time? I don't know ... looking at what politics and religion have done to just this country alone in the past 4 years makes me think that humanity aint ready yet for full disclosure, (let alone direct contact) no matter how many people say they are ready, they aren't really ready. This won't be like Indigenous Peoples of Color first time encountering Europeans, this would be more akin to waking up one day and your pet dog/cat/lizard is standing upright and speaking to you fluently ... humanity aint ready for that.
