A Thank You to the HNIC

We have a dope lil community here. I originally got here in 98-99 and went on hiatus for a lil bit, so in returning, you get a scope of the actual growth and personality of the board members.

Here's to another 2 decades @HNIC

FACTS...

If a person is on this board, and they haven't gained in some form of fashion, then they're just not even trying. Too many resources here for anyone to stay stagnant or ignorant.
FACTS: I used the resources from the Security + thread to pass the Comptia Security + exam and got an $80,000 plus job in Atlanta. I joined in 2006 while I was overseas but lurked years before that.

I've been here since OnProbation not too long after I got out of the military in 99

We've seen many boards that were similar come and go AND BGOL is still here

Y'all have helped me with so much. From helping me with the cover of my novel, to therapy/counseling, to laughs, and even giving me the confidence in my ability to write. Some of you even help me get my military disability rating increased from 10% to 90% ($140 - $2180/month) which allowed me to improve my finances

I'm grateful to all of you. I honestly don't know where I would be without this board as a collective. There are two sites I come to on a daily basis without fail: BGOL and Twitter, but BGOL first.

My credit score is the highest it's ever been. Thanks HNIC and everyone. If y'all come through Cleveland hit me up, we'll get a drink, first round's on me

@HNIC has bonded brothas together and kept this board a place where black men can have a safe space. Part of me becoming a MAN is due to the brothas of this board as I’ve been on here since 1997 in my late teen years. From life, family, relationship and career advice to comedic therapy to entertainment, BGOL has remained a home away from home. Salute to an unsung hero, the HNIC!

battling depression for over 30 years still going on but it's getting better, mind all fucked up but keeping faith and pushing 50 too

I been here since probably 2001 the esco days under a bunch of names...

I will be leaving once I finish my degree my situation been fucked up, I remember having some cats help me only to get back into depression.

Concur with all the sentiments. BGOL is ingrained in my psyche at this point. Y'all are like extended fam that I have never met. Some I don't like and some I do and still, I appreciate every one of y'all.

HNIC deserves his fucking roses because this fucking site has put so many of us up on everything you can imagine in life, it's actually amazing when you think about it.

I know some have it and some don't.. so no obligation... But I hope that if that time ever comes, we all take some responsibility to ensure this bitch continues on without interruption if we can help it. I know if I get a notice tomorrow that this bitch shut down, I'd be bothered for some time. Yes I/we'd move on but this is a daily routine for me and has been since I was literally a teenager and I'll be 45 this year.

Anyway, HNIC big up to you bro. Big up to all the staff too. I appreciate y'all. I appreciate everyone who makes this bitch run every day.

To HNIC and to BGOL!

Been here since 2000 one of the best finds in my life, love the brotherhood and of course the abundance of information ive found to help me in my day to days and this wouldnt of been possible if not for HNIC, you saw a void and filled it and you have my eternal thanks for it.

96-97 Early College days. Damn, it doesn't seem that long ago.. but I remember some events in my life that has happened since then, and those seems like they happened centuries ago. So yeah, I guess BGOL has been here pretty much since the Big Bang

Lurked for years, but finally created an account in 2007. This place is special to me. Made a lot of money from advice on here, saved thousands of dollars in music and software and received valuable life lessons from wise OGs. I was 19 years old when I discovered this place, now I’m married and pushing 40.

My only hope is that BGOL finds a way to get younger people in here like I once was to keep the board going.

This place deserves credit for standing tall in a era where message boards have come and gone thanks to social media.

It's something about this place. I've been a member here for 18 years. First visited 20 years ago. Books, books, books, movies, software, music, etc. Not only is it the Black barbershop but just as importantly the Black CNN. So much good useful advice and knowledge has passed down the BGOL information superhighway. GREAT discussion and debate. Most of all, the way Brothas have supported each other who were going through crisis and adversity in their lives- no words.

Thank you to HNIC for creating and maintaining a unique, unprecedented and irreplaceable place on the web and in our lives. I send out much love, respect, blessings, success and long life to all my BGOL Brothers.
