This is some real shit right here. Newsom stumped on pushing Reperations. What he was actually pushing for is a DISCUSSION about Reperations. He and all other CACs know that Reperations are not ever going to be paid out by using the “processes” they are using. The US, California, and local economies are suffering and making cuts. Media blasting that black people are going to get 1.2 million dollars is going to arouse negative emotions. The time to talk paying out Reperations was when the economy had a surplus. Instead of having complicated criteria, with different groups qualifying and getting different amounts. Simply giving a set amount to all descendants of Black folks that have been negatively impacted is the most reasonable compensation method. Gavin put together a committee, allocated money and resources to the committee and bragged about forming the committee, but when it comes to paying up, he is balking as expected.
I keep saying that Democrats/Liberals have comparable racism that Republicans/Conservatives have but are just more sophisticated in their racism. Liberals are using “Reperations” as a buzzword to get their needs met. Currently in Oakland, the teachers are on strike and they are using “Reperations for Black Students” in their package. Their “Reperations plan doesn’t have one cent of money going out to Black students.
