For people who live in South Florida. Is now the time to exit?

I've been living here for 23 years since I moved from NYC as a teenager. It seems that with every passing year that climate change is becoming more and more evident. Right now I can't get an affordable home insurance policy because everyone is leaving Florida because of the recent catastrophic hurricanes that have hit the state. In a single year it's gone from 1900 to 7500 with less coverage. This combined with higher property taxes because of inflated housing prices is making the whole no-state income tax advantage moot. I have about 150k left on a mortgage with a house worth 700.. I'm seriously thinking about getting out of here.

btw, no matter what any idiot says.. climate change is real and the effects are really starting to show themselves more clearly.

I was talking to my mom and sisters about this and I told him to really consider moving mother nature is going to do her thing to Florida and there’s nothing on this earth to stop what is coming

Yeah man this place is going to shit, the amount of people moving here and buying up property and raising the price is insane, never seen a place change so quickly.
Maga has taken over to a ridiculous point, this place always had its redneck population but these fucks have become very emboldened. I rent here and if I was to lose the spot I'm at now paying what I do idk how I'd be able to stay in WPB.
All the homies and family have already left to port st lucie or the lox to avoid the rising prices but it's still not cheap and those places truly suck.

The change in climate is going to take care of South Florida issues in a few

Bro I was talking to some cats out in Port St Lucie and Jupiter.. he said the CACs out there are UPSET. They moved there to get away from the people who live in South Florida, now those people are moving to PSL because it's getting so crazy here.

In the late middle to late 90s I seen bullshit coming so I got the hell out of the whole state. The government in Florida is fucked up and now you have climate change rearing its ugly head, so yeah it’s really would think about moving away from Florida if I was there

My ex lives or lived in Vero Beach. I haven't been down there in some years but it was a small beach town with the claim to fame that Tigsr Woods lived there or at least had a house there.

That's right up the way from Port St. Lucie. I'd like to know what the demographics are like there now.

Climate change deniers sound as stupid as flat Earthers. I work disasters every year on my job and when I started it was maybe 2 or 3 storms a year. We're getting shit every month now and the costs have ballooned out of control.
This is why I don’t understand the prices in South Florida still high because climate change is really showing its self especially if you stay near the beach.

Republicans are going to fuck everything up then the state will vote blue, Dems will fix some of the issues then the people will reelect Republicans.
I agree with you on a part of your statement, but the other part of your statement. Well, the Democrats only could do so much because climate change is going to stop certain things from being repaired. There is a strong chance that Florida may have a reverse migration when the climate change get really bad.

The storms are just sticking around Fort Lauderdale as you see with this radar loop it’s not really moving

I live in N.C. but my father side is from Florida. Back in the day Florida was 50% cool people who wanted the state to be all about beaches surfing and progress. 25% rednecks, 25% conserative old people. Now it's like 40% cool people, 35% conservative old people, 25% rednecks. :smh:

I'd say that # of conservative/old folks is higher. My mom is from Fl & I went to college there and still have fam there.

Me and the fam were thinking about moving to Florida. Joined the Facebook groups to find hundreds of people regretting there live due to the hurricanes, insurance and property taxes! Insurance companies were even ducking folks around after the hurricane. Some people’s homes are permanently fucked. Rethinking other options like South Carolina or South Texas. Just need a beach town with a international airport close by without a shit ton of people around.

Based off what your seeing which areas in the country are getting it the worst and which are the safest bet so far?

The crazy thing about Florida especially the southern parts is that brothers and sisters are institutionlized. Since the state is a peninsula, they only know Florida shit. It's kind of like growing up in Hawaii and never know what it's like on the mainland.
