##### UFC MAINCARD 287 Alex Pereira VS Israel Adesanya 2######

My ex already knew not to even call or try to be around me on fight night, I'd tell her to go have girls night out or whatever lol then UFC ramped up their schedule and it was damn near evey weekend.

maybe that's why she's my ex now :giggle:......

My friend is winning at life ... the one who used to host most of the boxing & mma parties pre-covid. His wife would either stay home or go out for dinner or a movie with her friends. She got along with everyone and would stay for select fights, or be off in their bedroom studying for her bar exam. She’s a lawyer now and has a 2yo son. They were in a small, cramped apt before ... but now are in a new townhome they moved into 4 years ago. Really happy for them. Oh yeah ... and she would cook for the parties too. People would bring an assortment of food potluck-style and she would often have stuff going on the slow cooker. Cool ass chick.

Sounds like the exact opposite of my life :giggle:

Congrats to your homie for finding one of the good ones

Yeah - they seem like they did it right. Happy to see them thriving. Heart of gold people. Looked at her and thought she’s the real deal. No wonder they settled down around 20yo! I think their best move was buying the old place (cramped but it appreciated in value). It was directly across the street from the old college campus. Cut down on all their travel time and was close to public transit. Now they’re working and making good money they bought into that new townhome development after years of economizing and staying under budget.

They didn’t get themselves into financial trouble early. Got their lives squared up.

I can’t bet against a brotha with his back against the wall. It’s crazy how he hasn’t been able to get to the finish line.

If Izzy wins, do you think they will make the immediate rematch again?

If Pereira wins ... how many years does he have left in the sport?

Does Izzy retire, or wait to move up to 205lbs? Or let Pereira move up instead, and stay at 185 himself to reclaim his champ status?

Those are all the questions that make this one so interesting, many implications for two weight classes and a bunch of fighters.

I think if Izzy wins there's a good chance we get the mma trilogy

If Pereira wins idk how much longer he can make 185, rumor is he's struggling as is(not shocked, dude is massive for the weight) if he stays at 185 I have serious doubt about a long reign, styles make fights and Alex has terrible/No grappling whatsoever. Someone like bobby knuckles who is much more well rounded poses some problems, khamzat is also a potentially bad match up. I feel that he'll also struggle against the top of 205 so imo win or lose he doesn't have a whole lot of time left in the UFC at an elite level.

If Izzy loses I don't see him moving up, he's not strong enough for 205, Jan wrestle fucked him to death and as big as he looks for 185 he's a lean dude who I believe is fighting at his proper weight class, even if he loses I can see Izzy getting the 185 title back under the right circumstances, not too many at 185 who stand a chance against him.

If Izzy wins, it will probably be because of a quick finish. If that happens Dana wouldn’t book a rematch.

Next will be Khamzat or that white South African guy. Maybe Dana makes Khamzat and the South African guy fight for a shot at Izzy. I can’t see Dana giving Robert, Cannonier, or Marvin another shot. Marvin and Izzy is a hug fest, Cannonier is to gun shy, and Robert doesn’t match up well against Izzy.

Robert and Marvin are definitely in tough spots both being down 2-0 to Izzy over the years. They are definitely looking for another Pereira win to get closure to his fights with Izzy.

Khamzat is definitely gonna be a problem in the years ahead. Hopefully he makes the permanent move to 185 and stops fucking around with cuts to 70. We all saw him miss the Diaz fight by 8-9 lbs last year and defiantly not give a fuck, lol.

Indeed. Pereira needs to round out his game having come to the sport of MMA late. He is definitely at an advantage with his frame. He won’t look undersized when he eventually moves to 205. Hell, he looks bigger than Glover when they’re in camp training and Glover is prob’ cutting 20
to 30 to make 205, and is shorter.

Whitaker and Vettori remind me a bit of Max Holloway at 145lbs. Down 3-0 to champ Volk. But too big for a drastic cut to 135, and too small for 155 with the likes of guys like Chandler, Poirier, Makhachev, and Oliveira. Not to mention Gaethje. We saw that great fight with Max and Poirier for 2019 interim strap. Poirier put plenty of damage on him though ... that wouldn’t bode well for Max (who fights Arnold Allen next wknd) and his continued long-term health having arrived on the scene at 19yo and being 30’ish now.

Even in a loss, that was a much better showing from Karate Hottie.

Thought she would take the decision ... she looked confident, as did her husband in her corner.

Her kicks were on point ... she was engaging a fair bit more and within range so it didn't look like she was in a sparring session out of range. She was doing damage and compromised her opponent's left leg. Got her takedown attempts in. That front kick to the chest that flattened Pinheiro in round 1 was perfection. Had it connected to the face, it would have been shades of Silva KO'ing Belfort back in the day. She sat her ass down.

But yeah ... altogether it was good to see that from her. She still has that fight in her. Listened to a podcast interview earlier in the week the The Corner, and she was saying she wanted to get into the flow ... get into a solid fight and challenge herself. I believed that ... compared to years back when she was trying to get the "Mom Champ" hashtag trending ... despite not performing well enough. This was shades of her from earlier in her career. The reason she gained fight popularity (aside from her looks) ...

Props to her.

Agree 100% She came to fight! I was in and out of the fight, but from what I saw, it was a decent contest. I'll check the entire fight tomorrow.

Right on - yeah, it's worth a look.

I think far too often it's looked like her and friend / training partner Holly Holm are in there trying to look "busy" and active, but not really connecting much.

Good to see both of them fight up to their own level recently. Holm in her win earlier this year (improved wrestling and grappling) and Waterson-Gomez here. Fought hard and can't be faulted too much by her team & corner.
