But I don't think having an agent is such an automatic problem solver that people think it is. We have heard horror stories for decades about bad agents too.

I disagree. An agents sole job is to get the person they represent the best deal/deals possible.
Regardless of how many injuries Lamar has had (which I think is one of the main factors here), an agent, negotiating on his behalf, would have a better chance to get a deal for Lamar than the man himself.

Here's what I hate the most about Lamar's situation and a lot of football players situation. He's asking for for $250Ms guarantied, while that's high it's deserving because another QB has already signed a deal like that.
But the fact that Lamar has already given the Ravens 5 years of a TOP 5 QB PLAY for $32Ms MEANS NOTHING TO THE RAVENS WHEN CONSIDERING THIS NEW DEAL!!
These players better pay attention, fuck super bowls, always get the most money you can while you can because these teams show you over and over again, they don't give a fuck.....
Allen has not missed any games due to injury since he was named the starter. Mahomes as well if I recall correctly.
I want Lamar to get paid, but the guarantee deal he's looking for, plus what (two first round picks) that it will cost another team if they sign him in addition to the money he wants is too risky.

An agent is like a lawyer. How many times have defendants successfully defended themselves in court? Yeah, you may hear of the occasional case where a defendant was able to win a case on his own, but nine times out of ten, he ain’t getting anywhere near a legal victory unless a lawyer is there representing him.
Same thing with sports agents. Yeah, an athlete could technically represent himself and may be able to negotiate a good deal…but the likelihood of that happening isn’t that great, which is why so few athletes, like defendants, go the self representation route.
MY POINT IS HE'D BE IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE WITH AN AGENT. THATS MY POINT CUZZO.
