Okay. I'd prefer a Grand National or GNX but, not bad.
They are almost the same car. To me the SS has a more interesting look slightly more.
IIRC the SS was the answer to the Grand National. The GNX was a limited edition GN that was race trim.
But different companies.
Both was made by GM
GNX was one of the fastest cars to come out of the 80's. Help bring the automotive industry out of the horse power deficit.
It's horse power was under rated and was faster than the corvette of that time. Buick was putting out some serious power compared to its competitors.

If it was a good deal, I will still get it but I agree with you.
At that time the branches were not only separate but rivals. So yeah, GM banner but those inter-corporate rivalries produced some fantastic cars and even though the GM "ideology" was all parts fit all cars, the design results were very different.

I've only ever saw this car in either white or black.
