Kanye has done more damage and yall niggas are way too mad at Will.
Will was wrong, Will was out of line, Will is lucky Chris Rock chose not to press charges and now Will has to take his ass whipping but some of the shit I'm reading on BGOL as well as the tone of the replies really looks and feels like those white dudes on Reddit who are talking about Will Smith like he's Adolf Hitler.
Niggas are way too mad at Will. Some of yall niggas must have been Chris Rock types when you were kids?
I listened to this yesterday thinking if Chris Rock from Bring the Pain and Bigger and Backer said some of those things
The N word and black people joke
People would have thesis papers analyzing and breaking it down
I think people are mad at Chris, which is weird. He's the victim.
Black women have been mad at Chris since he did the hair doc

Smh if you wanted a one of my long winded responses, just reply directly. I thought you were done with this. I can see this is dear to your heart so I'll still entertain you.
You're right Wanda Sykes and others have made jokes about appeasing white people. It's never been seen as a positive thing. Even in that joke, Wanda is not making it into something you should do. She literally said she did the opposite. A black man empowered her to feel comfortable with being herself regardless of what white people approving or not. Chris Rock's reason for not fighting is because whites are going to look down on him? His parents weren't a good enough reason? The work that black people have done to get to this point wasn't good enough? He's still that little boy getting beat up by whites and subconsciously wants to behave to avoid getting punished. This isn't a complete slight against him. Appeasing white people was how we survived in the past. For the white people who look at blacks negatively or hate you for no reason, they'll never respect you. If you are going to be concerned about how you are viewed, black people should be your priority.
Did I misunderstand what Chris said? Did his parents tell him not to fight in front of white people? You are making excuses for someone you are a fan of. His history is making jokes that some feel are to appease another race and he has been called out for it in the past. When Jada boycotted the Oscars on the pretext of supporting black people and Chris made a joke about it, it was viewed as appeasing whites. He was right as far as taking the job if he didn't feel they were being genuine. He fucked up when he publicly joked about Jada who had a valid point even if her motives were questionable. To make it worse, im under the impression that they were friends, so why make lite of something you know she felt strongly about.
Out of his own mouth, the Black people vs N... joke wasn't the best look to the point of retiring the joke. I never had much of an issue with it but others did. Saying black people should hold each other accountable is fine. Giving the impression that whites dislike blacks for bad behavior is justified and don't lump us together is questionable and can be seen as trying to appease Whites.
I'll concede that SOME jews were offended by the gervais joke. But in the case of Rock...his joke concentrated on will playing a ROLL. That joke could easily be used for ANY groups genocidal event. Was Ricky Garvais called out for his jokes about Ann Frank. Based on the article i posted and you selectively ignored Jews called out Ricky for a joke they deemed disrespectful. Chris's joke was disrespectful to me. I don't care about " canceling " Chris over a bad joke. It's called having standards. If others aren't offended by the joke, that's their business. I gave you another example of Wayne disrespecting Emmett Till. I mentioned the Joe Rogen planet of the Apes joke. Chris didn't even do the joke in a clever way. You're right I'm very much selective about any people disrespecting black people or making lite of certain events. In the discussion of Elon taking over Twitter and allowing blacks to be disrespected joke or otherwise, I had an issue. Overall i know i thought Kanye saying black people choose to be slaves was disrespectfuland that wasn't even a joke. My opinion didn't change because of my stance on Will smacking Chris. It has always been my stance. It's not enough to just hold whites and others accountable. It has to be done with us too. You don't need to cancel the person, but it should be understood that what was said is wrong and hopefully the person learns from the mistake. We all make mistakes and should get the opportunity to grow. Stop with the antiwoke bullshit.
Meh...comedy is subjective. No disrespect to Marlon Wayans, but it's a sad day in comic history when he does a better job than Chris Rock. The entire set was about his history with all three and was well thought out. It wasnt perfect, but it was a vast improvement over his past work and he handled the sensitive issue well.
thats how it ALWAYS works..the outrage comes YEARS later..usually by new niggas with agendas^^^^^
I think the n word thing with Seinfeld and Louis CK did major damage
Which is crazy because I saw it in real time and nothing THAT big was made of it
But later with social media and Louie being a freak?
Woo boy

Man that shit was posted on the board.thats how it ALWAYS works..the outrage comes YEARS later..usually by new niggas with agendas
To be clear?
I thought it was a bitch move at the time and others in my circle thought so too
The n word vs black people thing is much more complicated
It was FINE in our circles ...
It was once we went to work etc and heard WHITE folks saying it that we all came back like ohh sh*t
This ain't just OURS anymore
We gonna have to make sure we move different
And as I got older...
I realized the cookie cutter "black folks walk like this, but white folk walk like this..." type jokes was a problem in black comedy period.
So I do not want to act like just because 2023 generation says it's wrong they SENSITIVE.
That doesn't mean it was COOL back then.
It was a different time culture media technology etc etc
They do go overboard but some stuff does need to be revisited and checked.
Not banned or canceled but addresses is good.
This ain't the thread for that though.
Man that shit was posted on the board.
Same time it happened.
ya'll have to understand that chris is regular person just like everyone else. You also have to understand that doing that show was a JOB not just kicking it with friends in someones livingroom.
So when gervais and louie started laffing to hard and repeating the word what did you expect Chris to do in that moment?? Start punching people in the face bark WUTANG and stomp out???
He learned something EVERY POC learns about the work place...there are certain subjects YOU DONT engage with cacs/mixed company in period. Note how Seinfeld got quiet as mofo.
Everyone doesn't automatically react like John Shaft in the face of some fucked up shit. And its EASY to be on the sideline calling it out.

Well I disagreeI completely agree
Well I disagree
Ok so why dont say anything after? And that's OK.
But I see his point I agree with it.
It's not MY PERSONAL takeaway but it makes sense.
We gotta be careful to judge folk and claim what we WOULD of done.
We don't know.
If you got slapped, someone dissed your wife, someone says the n word in your presence, etc etc
We all THINK HOPE WISH that we would do the right thing.
But it's much easier said then done.
Cause if that was the case the world wouldn't be the sh*t show it is.
Ok so why dont say anything after?
to who gervais and CK?? how do you know he didn't?? Also theyre all comedians and while WE were offended by that it was clearly in the realm of JOKING...an elite comic who makes a living doing that shit...can't suddenly turn around and tell OTHER COMICS their joke went too far.Ok so why dont say anything after?

Ya'll know Chris rock is the only comedian I've seen that will ON STAGE call white people cracka ass crackas and say that shit MORE than use the term white people? I haven't seen even crude comedians do that. Not Katt not Eddie Griffin not Mike Epps none of them.
So for him to turn around and tell two white men they offended him with saying nigga IN THE REALM OF STAND UP...is like
hell even chappelle talked about it a couple of times
That's allGood question
Shit happend in public
Handle it in public
U aint changin my mind on this bro

In my opinion the N word versus Black people isn't complicated at all, it's actual very simple.
Amongst Black people it's understood and it's known.
We just aren't comfortable with white people knowing it, saying it or acknowledging it in any shape form or fashion.
So saying in front of Black people and we laugh, saying it front of white people causes an issue because they don't know what it truly means.
And if any white person acknowledges or states it it's going to be from a racist angle.
Why do I bother if you just gonna parachute in being all erudite and insightful and sh*t?
Nah man you're good and your insight is needed and respected.
I'm just giving my perspective.
Some things we feel should just be for us and once it's shared with others. They'll take it the wrong way and it'll always be racist no matter how they say it.
In short. We can acknowledge and speak about Black people vs N words, they can't.
Just playing bro
But that was very very well said
I know you were![]()
Just making sure
You know dudes on here mad sensitive since I came back
I did not want to have to record a public apology.
Yes we're mad at you, and according to some we're mad at Will and offended by what Chris said in his special
