To casuals and WWE marks he's a nobody. To everybody else he's one of the best heels in the business.
Well stated. This is what happens when you take an indy fanboy mindset and try to apply it to a national (wanna-be global) promotion.

The casual fan isn't so casual anymore with social media, forums, satelite radio and other forms of media fans are being exposed to more than just what's on TV. You get a reddit video of Stone Cold Steve Austin, it can take you down a reddit wrestling rabbit hole where you find out about these other promotions and wrestlers.
If Jay White showed up on Raw, he would get a lukewarm response.
NXT is the place where NJPW stars go once they come to WWE, so they can build their characters and get known here to WWE (wrestling) audiences.

I don’t “get” Omega’s appeal nor am I a huge fan of his style, but he would definitely be a big get for WWE…much bigger than Jay White or FTR.
