Went to church with my kids ended up in a debate about sage

My kids asked me to go to church with them(my daughter praise dances) and so I did it. Long story short, the pastor and wife smelled the sage on me and it was on from that point. Telling me I'm worshipping the devil etc. I asked them to name specific scripture staying burning sage was wrong and even pointed out at least 10 that mentioned it was ok(John the Baptist among others)
I think it's funny because these same people wear"protection crystals" have Christmas trees up etc.
I let my kids go on their own spiritual journey, their mom(we're divorced) forcing this one sided fake Christianity on them so you see the dilemma.
Hell my father's side is devout Roman Catholic(great great grandparents came from France and Haiti) they still burn incense

That's a tough one, because each person takes to religion differently. As a kid I was always skeptical, I liked the rituals of Catholic school mass but I wasn't Catholic and I had a healthy suspicion of religion in general & I don't know where that came from. Hopefully, your children can see through certain aspects religion that doesn't serve humanity as a whole.

I grew up for the first eight or so years as a Muslim. I didn't have my first Christmas until I was almost 9.

When my parents divorced my mother took us to a Christian church and because I'm a pretty good singer comma people everywhere I met asked if I sing in church.

They don't have singing in Muslim churches so that's just a Christian thing, but when I tried to join the choir at my mother's Church there was no one in the choir younger than 50 and they wouldn't let me join, so I haven't really fucked with religion ever since

Arguing with Christians is pointless because they're always right and their mind and you are always wrong

My opinion is religion is man's belief on how to praise God. The thing is, everyone is convinced that their method is the right and only way therein lies the rub with Humanity.

Christians consider it not only a right but a duty to convert those who aren't Christian into Christians and therein lies another problem

Bruh I refused to go back and forth with them. I just asked them to show specific scripture and they couldn't.
I've read the Bible, Quran and just started the Torah and even did my studies into voodun(born and raised New Orleans)
I believe in a higher power, a creator, but I also believe in frequencies

It's people that use it for clout etc and the white washing of it that's given it a bad name. There are similarities between voodoo and the Roman Catholic Church.
I've given up on the"what came first" argument and just go about my day being the best person I can be
