I think the protests might be legit on one level. They have scraped the web and collected billions of bits and pieces of artists and photographers work-adding them to the database that powers the algorithm generating the stuff. And none of the artists gave their consent.Saw a lot of artists taking their work down from sites like Artstation,CG Society etc cause they protesting about AI art![]()
Looks kind of like a cross between Lennie James and Badja Djola..
Exactly what was the prompt you typed in?I tried to use Dall E (?), but what I tried to design looked like shit. If what is really happening is that the AI is taking images from across the net and compiling them, it makes sense as to why I was getting poor results.
Yeah this shit is straight robbing artist work/style, It's worse than auto tune.Saw a lot of artists taking their work down from sites like Artstation,CG Society etc cause they protesting about AI art![]()
I feel like I agree and also don't agree with that. Seems to me it would be more so on the users of these programs whether or not theft of style is happening- in other words, the intent, the results and then what they do with it. If someone who has no artistic skills just knows how to structure a prompt to bite the entire style of a particular artist and then goes on to say, "Look at this original shit!" that's problematic- especially if the actual artist is still alive while the biter is monetizing fakes of his shit.Yeah this shit is straight robbing artist work/style, It's worse than auto tune.
I see where you're coming from and I like your comparison to sampling, I guess I'd have less of a problem with it if people who's art is being used to generate these images got the contribution and money if it's being monetized, like with samples. Because ultimately the ai isn't creating anything out of thin air from what I understand. It's fucked up to me that people can create a "banksy" of their own based on his works, generated using images of his as a reference and he gets no credit or cash from it.I feel like I agree and also don't agree with that. On the other hand, an actual artist can get on AI generators and make next level shit whereas the non-creative is gonna make basic shit that looks nice but lacks substance and is no different than what every other consumer is doing with the software as a fad.
Kinda like DAWs or sampling or BandLab or GarageBand or what have you. The shit is easy to use with very little know-how nowadays to make a basic beat. However, someone with musical talent, skill, compositional know how, etc can take that same software and make magic. The cream rises to the top.
That's how I see it, anyway. Not to negate anything you said. And autotune is mostly garbage.

If you have time, This guy's channel explains how massage the prompts https://www.youtube.com/@TokenizedAI/videosFrom what I understood, I only needed to describe what I was trying to create so I kept it simple. Maybe it was not descriptive enough. The more I tried to be more detailed the worse it got and I almost ran out if the free credits.
Badja Djola was a scary mother fucker. Ever since I saw him in A Rage in Harlem, that dude was scary as fuck. And then Players Club. Rest in peace to that manLooks kind of like a cross between Lennie James and Badja Djola..

I‘m glad you introduced these things into the topic, because they are relevant. Everything you said is right. Your point about sampling is well taken. At some point, these companies…Midjourney, Dalle2, Nightcafe, etc need to face the wrath of the artists and be made to abide by some sort of regulation. Text-to-image models like Stable Diffusion are making it possible to not just spoof but to actually straight up replicate the works of artists- easily. Yesterday, I just entered a simple prompt of “man screaming” into Midjourney and in literally 2 seconds it gave me back a picture-perfect replica of Edvard Munch’s famous painting, “The Scream”. I wasn’t even looking for that specifically but it delivered it to me anyway. There is currently no art equivalent of sample clearance when it comes to AI generators and that’s not good. Even without AI, one artist copying the style of another’s work is (rightly) frowned upon. Ultimately, in a way it is a slap in the face to the processes and work of artists.I see where you're coming from and I like your comparison to sampling, I guess I'd have less of a problem with it if people who's art is being used to generate these images got the contribution and money if it's being monetized, like with samples. No one is ever going to recreate those on a computer.
Is that last one Big Gipp?
Looks a lot like him, but that's just what the Ai came up with for my "African Warrior" promptIs that last one Big Gipp?
That first one...The twister napped up his fro.
lol actually those are AI generated. No one is ever going to recreate those on a computer.
I know but it will never be copied as it currently is.lol actually those are AI generated.
