Lolz currently but....these are just the ones I can think of this early in the morning....

Former WWE talent as AEW Champions
  • Chris Jericho
  • Johnny Moxley
  • CM Punk
  • Brodie Lee
  • Miro
  • Cody Rhodes (technically)
  • Pac
  • FTR
  • Toni Storm
  • Cesaro (ROH but still under the AEW umbrella)
  • Samoa Joe

The problem with this is a lot of these guys were in other promotions before they went to WWE.
Jericho for example was in WCW and NJPW Before WWE. CM Punk was in ROH before WWE. Pac was in ROH and PWG before WWE. Samoa Joe was in ROH before WWE. Toni Storm was in Stardom before WWE. All WWE would do is raid smaller promotions for talent like ROH and say see they're WWE guys. The hardcores know where these guys really came from.

The problem with this....all of these wrestlers were recent title holders in WWE (save for Punk who was gone from wrestling for eight years).....

Yeah, they all wrestled in smaller promotions, but they (except for Samoa Joe) for the most part made their name under the WWE umbrella....

AEW capitalized on the names they built. Nothing wrong with that, but to say AEW hasn't pushed an overwhelming amount of exWWE wrestlers to the top of their promotion is untrue, even if most of their current title holders haven't competed in a WWE ring.

LOL, they literally waited until they got the belt off Samoa Joe to make this graphic. The point still stands.
Most of the big names in AEW were stars in WWE first, including Jericho and Moxley.
The only truly homegrown talent in AEW that's actually over right now is MJF, Darby, Britt Baker and The Acclaimed.

I’ve heard so many bad things about her. Why is she so terrible again? What has she done to be so toxic? I mean to get barred from everywhere seems tough to do.
She is apparently everything detractors say that CM Punk is particularly in regards to coworkers. A couple of years ago she made a post about female wrestlers supporting each other and women from multiple countries and multiple companies came out of the woodwork to criticize her and share horror stories. The talent is there but she can't along with anyone apparently

He's definitely going to AEW. They pretty much have ready made storylines there with the Elite and Undisputed Elite. Plus there's nothing really left for him to accomplish in New Japan. He's been a phenomenal heel but New Japan always shoot themselves in a foot by defaulting back to Okada. It's like they're scared of growing because they're so afraid that all their future stars are going to be non Japanese. As a gaijin there seems to be this glass ceiling that you're not allowed to break. It's apart of the reason why AJ styles left. Why Kenny left and so many others.

For all the great wrestling that you see with New Japan it's one of the most mismanaged companies there is. They sabotage themselves every time.

Disco is a fucking joke. Tell Great Muta that he has to speak English for him to be a star in America. Tell Jushin "Thunder" Liger. The fuck outta here. The last person Takeshita needs to be listening to is Disco "fucking" Inferno.

Great Muta and Liger are not stars in America. They may be stars to you, but the average wrestling fan doesn't know who they are.

And if you're unrecognizable to the average (casual) wrestling fan, then I'm sorry, you're not a star, just a wrestler known to wrestling nerds.

The average wrestling fan isn't a casual. The average wrestling fan is the person who follows the product on a weekly basis. The casual wrestling fan is someone who watches every now and then. He or she is not fully invested into the product.

The casual wrestling fan watching TODAY wouldn't know who Muta and Liger (because they're currently not on TV screens here in America) but casuals watching WCW in the 90's would. And I'm sorry someone being a star is not dependent upon whether a channel flipper casual recognizes you or not. By that logic Ricky Steamboat, Harley Race or Bruiser Brody aren't stars because casuals today wouldn't know who they are.

Says who, you? Lolz I'm probably not a casual wrestling fan and *I* couldn't pick either one of those mother fuckers out of a lineup.

I watched WCW back then and again, they were cool but I'm not gonna sit here and call them stars. Stars shine long after they burn out. Great Muta and Liger? Then motherfuckers are dim as fuck in non nerdy wrestling fan eyes...

As much as I love Steamboat, Race and Brody (meh he was OK), hardly anyone is going to recognize them if they walked into a diner. They aren't stars. They were once upon a time....but even still, Muta and Liger don't even touch them as far as broad appeal or star power.

Ric Flair? Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Brett Hart, yes.....Muta or Liger, stars? LMAO

This discussion reminds me of when Keyshawn Johnson and Wayne Chrebet we're feuding when Keyshawn called himself a star and Cherbet a flashlight...

Lolz

Yeah, you're a casual fan. That much has pretty much been established in this thread a while ago.

They're WRESTLING stars not HOLLYWOOD wrestling stars. There's a difference.

Then motherfuckers are dim as fuck in non nerdy wrestling fan eyes...

Of course they're dim in the eyes of casuals because they're not really paying attention in the first place. They only pay attention when they choose to pay attention.

Also, I love how you frame the narrative that if anybody who bothers to watch a product consistently then they have to be a nerd. By that logic anybody that watches the totality of a movie or show is a nerd.

As much as I love Steamboat, Race and Brody (meh he was OK), hardly anyone is going to recognize them if they walked into a diner. They aren't stars.

A wrestling fan would recognize them. Not a nerd wrestling fan a wrestling fan. They're wrestling stars not Hollywood wrestling stars.

Flair, Hogan, Macho and I'll add Piper have either done films or TV shows. They're Hollywood wrestling stars. Meaning they can be recognized through other entertainment mediums other than wrestling.

......LMAO YOU are the one who mentioned Hollywood! FOH

Yeah, I mentioned Hollywood because that's what I assumed you were referring to when using the term star. And if you're not referring to that then I don't know what you're talking about because all those wrestlers you mentioned benefited from Hollywood making their names recognizable beyond the scope of wrestling. Meaning if you weren't a wrestling fan you wouldn't know who the fuck these people were without the metrics of Hollywood. The point I was making was the term "star" isn't exclusive to Hollywood. If someone has an achieved a level of fame then they are star. Regardless of Hollywood.
