Sasha Banks debut was meh. She delivered that move to Kairi pretty sloppily and WTF was up with her slow as delivery of that promo.....it just felt off.

Possibly nerves or jitters. I dunno, but I was hoping her debut would come off looking better.

I will say that this was a big moment for her and performing in front of a Japanese crowd at WK is a different animal than WWE events. And we know she can deliver. She should just cheap shotted with the ring on her hand then cut a short promo just to get the moment out of the way. But the segment could have gone differently with her connecting with the move properly.

Adjusting to the crowd. She has to go from basically screaming her promos in front of English speaking crowds to almost not even needing a mic now. She was likely advised to speak slower because she does have a slight speech impediment. This was her first appearance in front of a live Japanese crowd. She'll be alright.

Haters on Twitter making fun of her not getting a big pop from the Javanese crowd :smh: guess they don't understand that's how that crowd shows respect for you their. Dumb Americans:hithead:
Yes, Japanese crowds aren't loud like American crowds....Lolz I might be wrong, but I do remember Chris Jericho receiving a loud reaction when he debuted in Japan though.....

Regardless, Sasha's debut wasn't as big as it should have (or we thought it) could have been.

Many things to address about her debut. But I'll wait until everybody sees it on their terms.

We'll it's official! Mercedes Mone is here! NO she won't be at the Royal Rumble. NO she won't be at Wrestlemania. She's a New Japan talent now. Exciting times ahead! I'll give my thoughts on her debut later today.

Kinda tired of these CEO/Money gimmicks. Lio Rush ran that into the ground in two different promotions.

When Jericho first debuted in Japan (97') he didn't get a reaction at all. He had on a full bodysuit with a mask and called himself Super Liger. It completely bombed. The crowd started to warm up to him once he changed his gimmick and started wrestling under the "Wild Pegasus" gimmick.

I'm talking about his debut from a few years ago against Omega.

Jericho was a nobody in 97

I absolutely expected that. People exposing themselves.

It's one of the reasons why UFC doesn't go to Japan all that often. Japanese crowds make their shows seem uneventful. I know I LOVE Japanese crowds all that chanting in the States and Brazil gets on my nerves or booing during wrestling is MIND NUMBING to me!!!

Can't disagree with that.

This was the move she was trying to do if you haven't seen it done the right way.

And I've gotta see that Omega/Ospreay match.

It's unnecessarily complicated like Tay Melo's Gory Bomb into a knee. I'd rather see her swap out the knees to the back for the Gory Bomb if she's insistent on using it to set up her submission.

She was definitely nervous in front of that crowd, that's a lot quieter than an American crowd, and it's been a while since she's cut a promo.
She'll be alright. She's never been the best promo anyway.
Still not sure if her new name is pronounced "Money" or "Monay". I heard it pronounced both ways in the clip.
I do expect her to eventually make her way back to WWE at some point after she gets the Japanese bug out of her system.
She has always had an Asian fetish it seems. LOL
I don't expect her to join that clusterfuck of a women's division in AEW.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought you meant Jericho's first ever debut in Japan since that's the comparison here in relation to Mercedes's first ever debut in Japan.

The comparison is Sasha was a big star.

Jericho was a big star.

There is no comparison between Jericho's debut in 97 to Sasha's debut today (2023) as they were no where near the same level.

Jericho's debut in (2018) and Sasha's debut are more comparable.

I wonder if there is a little bit of jealousy and they dont want the move to come off as expected to make Mercedes look as strong. Its funny how small she looks in the ring as Sasha Banks in NJPW she look tall and much bigger than Kairi. She is more believably as a champion by American Standards

Japanese fans don't really follow American Women's wrestling like that. New Japan just started opening up to the concept of having consistent women wrestlers. Sasha ain't gonna get the reaction like some of her male counterparts.

I would go a step further and say that Japanese fans don't really follow WWE like that. If Roman went over there he wouldn't get a massive reaction because although he's huge in the states in Japan he's just another guy. Omega gets the reaction he gets in Japan because he's lived and wrestled over there on a regular basis. They've come to know him. They don't know Roman. Seeing someone on TV isn't the same to them. They want to see what you got up close and personal. I think over time Mercedes can win over the Japanese fans but she has a lot to prove.

Are people really that in love with women's wrestling.? I change the channel unless they are nearly naked and a possible nip slip may occur. I like the way some look but can't stand the matches. Just brutal and when they talk(yawnfest) but that's just my opinion
