15-Year-Old Saves a Girl Who Collapsed in Class – Instead of Being Rewarded, He’s Suspended for This Reason
With a classmate in distress, one boy dared to do the right thing and received punishment instead of praise.

She fell out of her chair, but this wasn’t a class prank. Rather, it was a girl at Gateway Middle School in Texas. Per the DailyMail, she was coughing and gasping for air for several minutes while no one lifted a finger before collapsing.
Unphased, her teacher ordered the students to stay seated while she emailed — yes, emailed — the school nurse.

With precious time ticking away, one student had seen enough and with the right morals

While his classmates and teacher stood by, 15-year-old Anthony Ruelas stepped up. Against his teacher’s protest, he left his desk.

“‘F**k that, we ain’t got time to wait for no email from the nurse,” he said, as he rushed over to his gasping classmate. Ruelas then picked her up and took her to the nurse, where she was treated with success.

If you guessed that this heroic act is followed by a warm reception for a fast-acting student, think again. In fact, not only did they not thank him, but Gateway officials suspended Ruelas for two days for not following the teacher’s instructions.
Ruelas couldn’t believe it. “I was like what? I’m suspended for this? Like, I was trying to help her,” he said.

And then to add insult to injury, the school called Ruelas on the first day of his suspension to see why he wasn’t in class.
How One Student Proved That Heroes Have to Do What’s Right

Mandy Cortes, Ruelas’ mother, said that the school’s response was totally backward given her son’s heroics.

“For them to not be rewarded for really something that is brave, you know, he is a hero to me,” she said.
Yet the one person who most appreciated Ruelas was the girl he saved. She had texted him to thank him for his help and also to let him know she was doing just fine.

Granted, Ruelas could have expressed himself better. No matter how he feels about the teacher’s actions, you have to show a level of respect to authority.
But looking at the bigger picture, his motivation wasn’t to rebel but to rescue a girl. From the looks of it, the school admin needs a timeout to review their safety policies lest another student is put in danger.
As for Ruelas? His mom says that sometimes, it’s about more than rules.
“He may not follow instructions all the time, but he does have a great heart.”
At the end of the day, doing the right thing sometimes goes against the rules. In those cases, let’s give a pass to the brave boys like Ruelas for bending them for the greater good.

Good for him. Take them two days off and catch up on some video gaming.

He’ll be ok and his conscious is clean if he feels like he done right. Schools are weird anyway with policy. That’s why I don’t trip when they do “certain” dumb shit.

Been in the school system all my life and half the shit they do makes no sense in the first place.

You are right, unfortunately most suspensions are in school. He will be in the media center

The dumb teacher should have ran and got help. I understand why the teacher didn't want anyone to step up, to avoid making it worse. Living in NY and seeing sick passengers on the train damn near everyday, this is the protocol. No one can touch the passenger until the paramedics arrive. He should be treated like a hero since no further damage was done and he was able to get the student help.

This is it right here...little dude could have injured her further but he did the right thing since the alternative was waiting for a response to a fucking email...teacher needs to be brought in for questioning by her boss...what the fuck was she thinking

You can get sued for touching an injured person

Uh you could sue a ham and cheese sammich bruh,

thats like sayin,

why did that guy jump in the water to save that lady,

he couldve drowned??

which is true, but thats why the young man

is heroic,

and the indoctrination system is only good for

training animals...

Public education in this occupied country

IS THE FUCKIN WORSE!!

You fall down the stairs and break a rib, I pick you up and the broken rib punctures your lung or liver, I made shit worse and should of just let the trained paramedics handle you

Teacher needs to be punched in the face for not running to the nurse office. Even if she called the nurse office. But to email the bitch!!!!?       Man if that was my child in medical distress I'd break that teachers neck.:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

I totally get your point, but some injuries require immediate attention

and being a respiratory situation and the immediate help being in walking distance...

the wise thing to do would be get them to their as soon as possible...

If I couldnt lift her, I would personally asked for help from the students to get her

to the nurses office..

I wont be able to sleep if a child died in front of me

and I did NOTHING!!!

personally I think they want students to be

obedient cold hearted, and selfish...

Im glad the new generation of young G's

are doing what they KNOW is right!!

they are proof the world is

Already changing for the better,

I wish they wouldve put his picture up

for the world to see..

Dont care what he look like,

He is a hero and should get that respect!!

Did you miss the part where she was coughing and gasping for air? If she was unable to breathe she only had 4 or 5 minutes before lights out permanently. The severity of the episode should dictate the course of action and in this case I'd say he did the right thing. :hmm:

Do you know how hard it is for a rib to do that even if it’s broken lol

moving an injured person is risky, but waiting and watching this gal take her last breathe could last a life time
