I want to get that Atari 50th Aniversary game but the truth is the majority of those games have either aged poorly or are just bad games in general.

An Atari 50th Aniversary documentary might have been better.

Basic capitalism at work. 2 different form factors = 2 different SKUs...... easier to produce 1 body style 20 million times vs Chassis A 12 million times and Chassis B 8 million times and hope there is enough demand for both.

The system is what it is and if you want a disc drive, you can buy that separately.

Also they may have some future plans with the disc drive, maybe 3D playback, upgradable to 8K later when tvs catch up....etc

At this point can they just churn out enough for demand??? We shouldn't be this far into production and every adult that wants one doesn't have one yet. Kids are whatever, but adults with the bread can't easily get one. I'm kinda over the chip shortage and supply chain excuses at this point. I honestly believe companies are artificially creating scarcity by throttling production.

But get a portable drive not a desktop drive
