CHICAGO – The next time you order takeout, you may want to go pick it up instead of having it delivered.

According to a new poll, 80 percent of delivery workers admit to eating some of the food in their customer’s orders.

More than 500 delivery drivers were polled for the survey.

Researchers discovered stealing food wasn’t the only questionable behavior.

According to the survey:

25% confessed to hooking up with someone in their vehicle
9% said they urinated on or near a customer’s home
10% admitted to urinating in a bottle while making deliveries
23% confessed to deliberately damaging packages
17% admitted to opening and then resealing packages
17% admitted to stealing packages
Researchers found a majority of delivery drivers attribute mistreatment and a lack of respect by customers for their behavior.

According to the survey:

73% don’t like their customers because they give bad tips
30% accuse customers of “tip baiting” – typing in a generous tip while placing an order online, then zeroing it out after delivery
57% don’t like when customers let their dogs bark and harass them
30% say customers are unfriendly
25% get annoyed when customers aren’t home or don’t answer the door
42% are frustrated when customers use them in their TikTok or other social media videos
The poll was contracted by Circuit Route Planner, an app that helps find the shortest and fastest routes for delivery drivers who make multiple stops.

Why would they say this true or not?

Why f*ck up your own hustle your own very poorly regulated Industry?

Stories like this bring attention complaints and potential serious regulations

Probably saw it as an opportunity to vent and let the public know how badly they get treated. Lots of folk treat service workers like filth and then wonder why these things happen. People are desperate, living in their cars and doing uber. Then get mistreated by the app (having to pee in bottles or risk deactivation for missing rides) and the customers. It's crap money too but better than no money.

Holy sh*t.

But if it's THAT bad...

There has to be better options.

Cause venting THIS way makes them look like the bad guys instead of victims

You can't mess with folks food or medicine...

Cause f*ck around and get caught get someone sick or a kid sick or a woman flips it as harrassment?

Then what?

I understand it's hard out here and during the pandemic those people provided a VITAL SERVICE and I know many who caked off major

But since I have the seen bad side too.

But it's a hustle plan and simple

There are better there are worse

But I can't support screwing the customer

Get a union and fight the real villians and as seen with Amazin get the people to support you.

Sidebar...

Yeah customers always been a pain but there a bunch of bad drivers giving the industry a bad name to to be fair

Not just drivers. Any food industry.

^^^^

Facts

But this one is fairly young (obviously not delivery but ubet eats etc)

And with social media etc this is NOT how you garner sympathy or support

Publicity like this?

Could attract a hungry politician to score major points by getting a base riled up about something as fairly benign as this and hurt the most vulnerable in this young industry.

Then what these drivers gonna do?

The food service industry as a whole...

I am legit surprised after everything that has been exposed during the pandemic about them new and old

When they advertised being CLEAN as some type of new and creative concept

That the public has not DEMANDED them to be held more responsible and demanded real change.

Is because of all the supply chain issues?

Lost of jobs in the industry?

Or did we find out Americans by and large like filth?

Does taco bell have a union? Popeye's?

There were days when I drove for 8 hours and made less than 80 bucks. And spent gas to do it.

I did a paper on the sharing economy and one of the journal articles I quoted showed how uber discriminates and sends cases to arbitration to stay away from any landmark, precedent setting cases. They are spending millions lobbying against being labeled as having employees to not pay benefits. Union efforts have by and large failed. You have to have a newer car to even do uber, which traps people into driving to pay off the car. By the time you do that it's too old for uber and you would have to get another one to continue. New form of indentured servitude.

You ain't say one f*cking lie.

I don't got the answer.

But I can tell you pissing off customers won't help.

White people are lazy..this service is godsend to them.. food and it coming right to their door..this is the best thing since microwaves to them.. no more days of just eating hot pockets and pop tarts they can actually have food delivered to them and it’s just not dominos.. they will accept the curses for the benefits of the gifts

Once that was in this beginning of COVID-19 where we didn't know much and it was a bunch of simple stuff: oranges, apples, bagels, orange juice.

After that I stopped that cause my neighbors showed me where this delivering food thing was headed , everyday twice a day....

But they white bro

They don't "have to" do anything they don't want to.

That's the thing.

If they decide to make this a "thing" this industry will be regulated more and its the drivers who will suffer.

Less drivers means less deliveries or longer waiting time.. say what you want but this thing literally only exist cause of the workers.. it’s like imagine a mc Donald’s without any workers you can’t… if the workers strike or leave than these cacs actually have to go out there and get their own food..they are not trying to do that.. cacs are the true niggas of the world lazy fucks..you can’t introduce them to this service than completely take it away from them they will go bananas so they will tolerate certain shit to keep this system running.. notice they do this in all sectors..tolerate certain things to keep the system running

I delivered pizzas as a teen. Quickly learn people ain't shit. :smh: And from what modern deliveries drivers say, ain't shit change. A lesson I learned delivering pizzas I was reminded of with business. The most demanding people are the cheapest/worst. It should be in training manuals. In business, we can choose just not to take them on. Fuck them. But delivery drivers are stuck and it's a nightmare.

If we didn't have regulations with pizza delivery, why now? One simple solution would be to make tips stick. If the tip is put into the app, it can only be UPGRADED not downgraded. Tip baiting is bitch shit.

I delivered before these greedy fucks added delivery fees. I can already imagine how that fucked up tips. It's bad enough America came up with folks having to support workers through tips because companies too damn greedy(that shit dates back to train service). In some other areas of the world, tipping is unheard of.

If serving certain areas routinely, delivery drivers quickly find out which areas tend to tip and who doesn't. That will affect service. We had 2 drivers and would try our best to only take certain deliveries.

Repeat customers who don't tip are fucking idiots. They asking to eat fucked up food. I never fucked with food, but learned to take my fucking time.

I might expound on these stories later.

Rich college kids tried to make out/get dick sucked in back of MY car.

Blk guy essentially told me shut up and drive.

Group of college kids...one tried to argue that the confederacy was better for Black people.

Girl nearly threw up in my car. Had to let her out to do it in the street.

Bitch was rude and condescending, tried to embarrass me in front of her friends. Come to find out she left her wallet and keys in my car. I didn't return them for a couple days and when I did she didn't compensate me for bringing them to her which I didn't have to do.

Damn.

I got no retort

Its SOOOOOOOOOOO obvious they are ready

to roll out the experimental delivery robots..

so they have to demonize the workers, to

kill any backlash from customers about having

their food delivered by a robot... as if that shit

wont malfunction at some point...

and good luck calling up a robot and complaining,

that shit will care, just as much as I do when homos

complain about my double spacing...lol

Damn.

I know customers can be foul but that is egregious and customers should be banned.

But again it goes both ways we could get just as many stories about bad delivery

No matter the condition or situation I don't cosign bad behavior messing with food messing with tips etc.

If you hate it that much get another gig or folk should get off their ass and pick up the food themselves (if able)

Or why not make a union?

That brother fought a multi billion dollar corporation and got it done.

Many said it was impossible

The tipping thing?

I did not even KNOW you could do all that with the app. I always tip 20%. I never had to adjust it. If I had an issue I contacted the app directly.

Sidebar...

I think we need to move away from tipping like Europe. And pay a living wage.

They don't have to worry about me cause I don't get shit delivered,as far as food goes.
Unless they came up with tamper proof sealed packages.... I wouldn't even consider letting a mofo that I don't know bring me food

.

We order from Uber eats and Door Dash and the food has a tamper proof seal. If that shit is broken it’s obvious. Never had an issue.

I still find it weird y’all are so anti delivery. Delivery of food ain’t nothing new. Y’all never ordered a pizza or Chinese food ?? Wtf

No...... Chinese spot I eat from is only 5 minutes away and my Pizza spot, Dickie Dees is in Newark don't deliver as far as my crib.... and a lot of times instead of pizza, I make a stromboli at home.... I prefer to cook for myself most of the time... it always tastes the way that I want it too when I make it
sidebar: a tamper proof seal wouldn't stop a wacko cac from using a syringe to squirt shit in.... and you'd never know

If you eat out at all you are subject to people doing shit to your food. Hell..shit can be done at the factories and distribution warehouse before you cook your food at home.

Yeah, I left. Fuck all that. But some people don't have that luxury. I think most drivers start out with good intentions. But ANY customer service job is a test in patience. Customer service jobs are brutal. Delivery is that much worse because it is the ultimate 'serve me' thing. Food coming right to a person like they're royalty.

That brief interaction at the door can be the worst with the wrong customer. Get too many in a day. A week. Shit. Only so much most people can take. Also, the idiots that demand the most, don't tip, are the ones to call and complain. So it's not uncommon for delivery drivers to go from Jake to Alonzo(training day) in under a week.

Hey have I ever lied bruh... Them shit is failing but they wont admit it too much

money involved...bruh in large cities it will be a matter of time before they figure

out how to hack that shit for free food, dude going to be knocking them shits over

and stealing parts, once they figure out where the valuable parts are..

there only hope is delivery drones and they are decades away from that shit...

plus they are going to end up paying repairmen who unlike those drivers,

will WANT to be employed and their employment will be much more then they are paying

to their contractors now...

can you imagine them robots delivering mcdonalds in the bronx at two oclock in the morning..

yea ok, them brainiacs over at columbia or nyu will figure out, how to get free pizzas delivered while they

are up all night, studying Od'n on adderall!

Certain jobs are not meant for certain people.

With me, I have a short temper and it don’t take much for me to tell somebody “Fuck You”.

It’s why I stay away from jobs. with direct contact with the public or anything dealing with customer service.

The closest job I ever had dealing with the public was working as a slot tech in Vegas back in the 1990s. The only reason I was able to last as long as I did was cuz I worked the graveyard shift and not dealing with too many people.

I wouldn’t make it a week in any customer service job today at my age of 52. Too set in my ways to change.

That's what I was thinking too. Drones being more effective & less easy to tamper with.

The London Drugs locations in and around our city here are all in popular areas. Near 2 of the malls which are close to highways and freeways, and one along Hastings St which is a main thoroughfare at all times of the day. Plenty of car & pedestrian traffic. Seems like alot of obstacles to navigate.

I hear you on that. Whenever I deal with customer service in person, I try to be as polite as possible. Keeping in mind they are dealing with the general public ALL DAY and constant frustrating interactions. So when you've got a simple request with them ... they're more likely to be cordial if you approach them properly. These past few years with all the fucking Karens out there? Fuck that ... couldn't pay me enough.
