Did my will & estate / power of attorney appointment this morning.
Had a good talk with the notary public - she explained how many people wait too late to get their affairs in order, or make their eventual will too complex. The key is to make it clear and straight-forward. Another thing too is if you plan on making charitable contributions after your passing, sometimes it's better and more rewarding to make those contributions while you're still alive and in a good place financially. That way your eventual executor ... or power of attorney ... can focus on tying up other important expenses. Making sure your bills, debts, CC payments are all squared away and so on. What to do with your home(s), etc.
Gonna email a few younger family members and friends & give them a list of things to prepare ahead of time before planning their appts in the future. Figuring out their $ beneficiary / beneficiaries, etc.
