So I’m curious because here in DC, areas that border DC or within 10-15 minutes from DC townhomes have been going for over a million for years now. I think it’s out of town people coming from NY and LA and other places that are driving up the prices. Those people see a million plus properties here, and like hell yea. Because million plus properties here are way more spacious and luxurious than in other major cities. But to people that’s been living here or from here it’s like what the fuck is going on!! But ATL is overpriced in all the good areas to live in right now. And it’s not just townhomes; it’s condos homes and even apartments. It’s ridiculous right now

It’s all considered metro Atl; just like LA with all the different cities; but ATL has all these dam counties as well which makes things stupid…
A million dollar home is like 10k a month, give or take, total expenses; so yea if one makes like 300k plus, I would think they would be fine. Depends on what else expenses they have…
Also remember that everything will be more expensive. I got people giving me quotes of $600 month to cut 3500 Sq Ft of grass just because they think you have money. Even the cleaners will clean you out with their prices. You got to get ready for that.

I'm in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area.
Both have homes "starting at 800-900k."
One of my jump offs purchased a cookie cutter home in Norcross by the water treatment plant for 550k.
I told her not to buy because she has to work 2.5 jobs to maintain her household but she swore to me prices were going to keep going up.
I don't even want to see what they're charging in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Vinings, etc.

I was just looking at my childhood home and some of the online stats.
My mom sold it for 300+ in 2001.
The new owners took a loss and resold it for under 200k in 2004.
As of 2019 it was assessed at 1.4 million, and as of last year at 1.6 million.
The house is 60+ years old. Decent area, nothing special. Only 3 bed, 2.5 bath.

That's the dilemma. You're working so much to maintain the place that you can't really enjoy it. Having to remind yourself it's for the long-term investment.
It's a bit easier when you're younger and saving for a place. When you're working like crazy - lots of money is coming in (and you don't have time to spend it - just save it for the downpayment and eventual mortgage). As you get a bit older it's tougher to keep up the 2 - 2.5 jobs challenge. Wears you out.

Shit...Decatur been had million dollar + houses. But here's the thing people dont get. People are paying 7 figures not just for the house, but the school district.
