I was talking to a co-worker last week, and she was telling me about her struggles. First of all, her oldest hates his dad, but his dad won't let him leave, because Florida law allows him to get child support. So, she's getting killed with that. Then she told me about having all of these subscriptions like HBO+, Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. I told her she need to get rid of them, but she doesn't want to let them go. She works 2 jobs, and she just got a new car with payments of $987+/mo for 60 months. This is fucking insane!!! I gave her a :eek2:, and she asked me how much my note was, and I told her I didn't have one. My shit's paid off. Then she asked me how what was paying before the payoff, and I told her $427/mo for 24 months, and she hit me with a :eek2:. Then she said, "My credit score is around 500 or so, but I don't feed into to that construct.". I told her whether she feeds into it or not, it's killing her pockets and making her pay over $987 for a base level Traverse for 60 months. Today, she got fired from our company. She missed a lot of days. Now, she's in a fucked up position. She's too old to be in the predicament, and I'm guessing so are we. Guys, I know we make the "BGOL balling jokes", a lot of us are not balling, I know I ain't, but don't be in this position! She's in her early 40s, and this is not a good look!

Outside of the child support she is financially irresponsible. Get rid of all those damn subscriptions at least for awhile to save money & even with bad credit she could have gotten a used car or another model & never had a damn note that high. $900+ for a Traverse wtf does it have platinum & gold accents? lol

Her car is a 2022 that she had to wait 2 weeks for. I told her to get used with low milage, and she wasn't feeling that. I hate when people see what me and my wife did, ask us about it, and then, do the opposite. She literally asked me how I did it, and then did the opposite.

She can keep the subscriptions and get rid of the car. Just get a cash car and get another job.
Even if it's not a job u want.....at least a check is coming in until u find what your are looking for.

If she wants to hold on to that car.....she gone fuck around and be living in it.

She's a moron, if I just has to have that model I'd have gotten a certified used 19,20 or 21.
I just KNEW my next car was going to be a LaCrosse, but I wasn't getting a new one. I don't buy new cars. She was like, "I like that smell!" I got that smell with a 1 one year old car with 6k miles. I'm trying to look out for the youngins, but I can't force them to take in the info.

Most people are really shitty with money, but that comes with a lack of financial literacy and your co-worker is financial illiterate.

She paying more for a car note than I do rent. And she got a 500 credit score. She is a high risk, but she doesn't buy into that construct :smh: She forever going to have high-interest rates if anyone will sell her something.

I have a cousin that is 10k behind on her rent. She was getting ready to be evicted (4k behind at the time), so wifey helped her get a traveling nurse job that sent her to North Dakota for 45 days. She was making $1800 a week after taxes. Plus, her job gave her a stipend to pay her hotel fees.

Somehow she managed to not pay any of her rent. Don't even ask me how she blew nearly 10k in 45 days in North Dakota. I don't even want to know.

If you have a payment like that and it's not a commercial vehicle being used to make more money, you're getting fucked so badly that it's best to just get out of that payment.

Well that all depends on a few factors, if your income is at a level that you can easily afford it then it's no issue or problem.

She's younger than me but at least i have no children and a hooptie that runs fine lol

She can't do anything about the CS, seems dude caught a lick and she fell for it, dudes be targeting them hoes knowing they do much better than they do and they won't pay CS, got a homeboy who does this, 3 kids by 3 different educated sisters and he don't pay anything in Fla too.

2.

I don't know why women have a problem driving older cars, I see dudes driving corollas all the time and older cars but females somehow need that nice whip, maybe they can't take the issues when miles get high but it's a bad move, get a used 10 year old camry and call it a day.

3.

Life does come fast, the baller might end up in prision or doing some crap job to make it, you can't always look at the outside because alot of people breaking out the credit card for uber eats tonight, bills too high and they don't know how to downgrade cuz they can't take the struggle. Men are way more conservative than women, I have no issue living in the hood if I'm single, women can't do that they in a 450k house making 45k a year.

Crazy

You should have sent her a link for a bottle of New Car Smell on Amazon. Could have had the smell for 20 bucks.

I generally buy 1 year old used if I have a note, or buy straight up.

Last car was a 2015 Charger I got at the end of 2015. It was a rental car. Got it for maybe 18k at Carmax.

Totaled it (not my fault) in 2019 and replaced it with a 2009 Charger I got for 5k. Rolling strong with no car note.

Got 2 homies with bad credit, one got a 12 year old car with more miles than my hooptie paying payments.

The other paying 700 on a ford mustang that's 10 years old, that bad credit is NO JOKE

They don't want advice, they want validation. Their minds are already made up, even if they promise that they're seeking legitimate advice. It's like all my out of state friends that come to Philly and want recommendations for cheesesteaks, and after I tell them not to go to Genos or Pat's, where do they tell me they went when they're leaving?

Man, I was there back in 2011. And the freakin' car we bought had so many issues :hithead:

I think our interest at the time was like 27%. I vowed to not be in the position again as best as I can.

Well that all depends on a few factors, if your income is at a level that you can easily afford it then it's no issue or problem.
My car payment was $335 and I could pay that, and still save money, invest money, and pay all my shit. She's paying almost a grand a month. Is she able to pay that on a single paycheck? If not, that is definitely a major financial obligation with a five year commitment.

True story.
A young lady who I work with, was asking me questions about credit reports and scores.
She said do you mind if I ask you your credit score.
I told her it was 797 as of last week.
She says I was the only person she knew with a credit score in the 700's.
:smh:

Mine drives me crazy. Right now, it's 774. Last week, it was 786, and I didn't do anything. I don't get it.

Bro. Some women really just live financially for the day.

I had to break my wife out of the habit of buying things she/we don't need or can't afford right now.
When I buy something, it's usually justifiable, low-cost shit for the house that we can both benefit from.

She, on the other hand, purchases dumb shit without any thought. A lot of impulse buys under the flag of 'you only live once'. Your friend's car story was her story too years back. Paying unnecessary money for a mid level car.

"Feel good" purchases and practices.:smh:

We all can get better at financial literacy.

There's a lot of lessons other people learn as toddlers that we have to learn by trial and error.

And other parents set things up in their kids name or have them learning the family business at an early age.

The head start they get is unbelievable
