This is the same shady thing that companies pull in lots of contracts, take maintenance contracts for your car for example on the front page it will say your engine, transmission, drivetrain are covered but as you flip through the pages the company starts breaking down every part of the engine/transmission saying this part is covered while this part that connects to it isn't or if this or that happens then this isn't covered or not fully covered.

As the saying goes.. The devil is in the details and if you don't have someone read over the contract and give you full understanding of what you are signing (or if you do and they failed at their jobs) who's fault is that? The person who gave you the contract, the signee, or the lawyer?
Of course it's easy not being the person in the situation but that doesn't take away from the truth.
It's not like these situations haven't happened over a thousand times. We hear about people selling their publishing and start crrying about so and so having their publishing (or not getting publishing credit to begin with). That means people when signing record deals and so forth should be extra careful about what they're signing.

I get that but you have to factor in the allure of the industry. A person is a fingersnap close to getting their dream of being a signed artist in what ever entertainment field your getting in so thats leveraged against you BUT not only that your dealing with FOMO and thats a VERY POWERFUL AND REAL THING. Throw in there poor or desperate circumstances + someone not just saying but doing things to give you the impression that theyre your friend/ally PLUS lawyers who may be working with the label/studio backdoor (conflict of interest) or just plain incompetent.
chappelle was 28 when signed his deal...its not that simple.
