I know this is an eternal debate on the level of using wash cloths but it has to done.
Recently I was talking to a parent whose child had a SERIOUSLY restrictive diet due to a bone marrow transplant to treat sickle cell (I've had this talk at meeting and seminars before)
And the one so called perfect thing they could eat and had to eat for basically a year?
Pizza.
Why?
That pizza oven killed EVERYTHING.
And she had to be careful preparing raw foods in the kitchen and potentially contaminating the area.
One of the most high risk foods for this?
Chicken
So talking to the top scientists researchers doctors etc etc at this meeting
You know ya boy had to ask...
So ummm yall saying she can't wash her chicken?
After a much needed huge laugh to tears about a very serious topic...
Sh*t got real.
Anyway we at bgol academy have discussed this particular topic ad nauseum
And I feel like we agree...
My Nana cleaned my mama cleaned we cleaning
However we also acknowledge that if you do so IMPROPERLY you negate any and all benefits by causing serious potentially dangerous cross contamination that would be far worse then just cooking the chicken out the package.
I know we aren't "supposed" to but I still clean my chicken. I am careful though. I remove anything near the sink and spay with a disinfectant afterward. I've always done so, but I'm much more mindful about it, slow running water to reduce splashes etc.
Yes, vinegar,lime juice and water.

After? Lmao, man I can't fuck with ya'll.^^^^
See that's the thing.
We saw that we had to literally spend MILLIONS and continue to do so...
Because these fools did not know how to WASH THEIR F*CKING HANDS PROPERLY
BEFORE DURING AND AFTER A GLOBAL PANDEMIC.
these are the people we are seriously thinking did or can wash chicken properly?
We got cacs during a pandemic proudly announcing
they DO NOT SHOWER.
We know YOU know what you doing honeysuckle
That ain't the issue at hand
What we gonna do about EVERYONE ELSE?
I'm thinking I'd rather you cook that thing to temperature than spray raw chicken juice everywhere.
After? Lmao, man I can't fuck with ya'll.
Surprisingly, I'm noticing more and more Black folks not properly washing their chicken and going straight to cooking/baking.

This topic has come up often on social media, and some popular black cooks are advocating not washing, so people are heeding the advice. My question is what has changed with our meat processing that chicken, which has been delicious since the beginning of time, is now a danger.
White people don't, hence the argument. They even have "scientific" data as to why you shouldn't.is this a fuckin serious question???
you clean every fuckin thing before you cook it..
a little lemon water soak action, rinse and repeat...
Like wha da fuck????
How are you cleaning bacteria, viruses, or fungi because these are the only contaminating agents that will kill and get you sick.I clean all my protein with vinegar, and I hit all surfaces with bleach afterwards. Never got food poison from my cooking.

The pandemic proved them wrong. They spread the shit across the globe.
That was a thing when I was growing up.i put bleach in my dishwater
am i the only one that does that
hey bleach kills covidThat was a thing when I was growing up.
Back in the day i would clean mine as i was raised by elders. But the last 15+ years i pretty much only buy high quality organic air dried produce that has zero water or liquid in the pack. I open that shit and cook it. Its bone dry and smells like water. Shit also cuts down on having to sanitize half the dam kitchen due to water splattering from when i used to clean chicken.
If you niggas still buying that chicken that comes packed in bloody water residue or with slime film covering the meat.. then by all means wash that shit.
Wholefoods or Fresh Market.Where do you purchase your chicken?
As already mentioned, it's said you don't have to but I always clean mine. I pull out all the tendons and fat I can and water with lemon juice cuts the fat and helps get a grip on that slippery stuff.
So my answer is yes - though not with soap as I've seen people do.
Everyone in my fam cleans the chicken, burn the feathers and just inspect the meat to make sure it's good to eat.
