Baseball.........Anybody still interested?

Bro I was trying to explain to my girl how incredible it is what Ohtani is doing... My analogy - comparable to Bo and Deion playing multiple sports, yet Ohtani only plays baseball... Was trying to draw an image of just how different pitching is from the rest of baseball...

Didn't think it would work, but ever so often I get a text or screenshot about Ohtani from her... Hell she sent me the Twitter link I posted...
Shit is incredible. Not just to do it, but to do it at a level we're seeing. Real life Babe Ruth type shit.

MLB has agreed to pay $185 million to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by minor-league players over unpaid wages, marking the resolution of a case that began nearly eight years ago, pending a judge's approval.

MLB also made an additional concession as part of the deal, per court filings Friday: it will change minor-league contracts moving forward. The uniform player contract previously forbid teams from paying minor leaguers outside of the regular season. That restriction will be eliminated.

The settlement is a landmark victory for minor-league players and their champions. Garrett Broshuis, partner at Korein Tillery and co-counsel for plaintiffs, said in an interview Friday evening he expects about 20,000 players to receive checks from the settlement.

“This is a great deal for players,” Broshuis said. “It provides historic relief that changes part of the contract that has been in there for as long as anyone can remember, and it provides significant relief to thousands of ball players out there. When we brought this case, nothing like it had ever been brought before, and this is a really good victory.”

Counsel for the plaintiffs seeks a 30 percent fee, plus no more than $5.5 million in reimbursement for litigation costs. That would appear to leave more than $120 million of the settlement for players.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (back spasms) elects to skip Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game
3:35 PM ET
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, sidelined the last four games with back spasms, will not play in Tuesday's All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
The three-time American League MVP will be replaced on the All-Star roster by Ty France of the Seattle Mariners, and Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins has been moved into the starting lineup.

Trout was in the Angels' posted pregame lineup as the center fielder on Saturday night, but was removed about three minutes before the first pitch against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Trout said afterward that his back felt wrong while swinging in the cage before the game. The Angels had a day off on Sunday.
Trout said after Saturday's game that he would sleep on it before deciding whether to bow out of the All-Star Game. On Sunday afternoon, Major League Baseball made his decision official with an announcement on social media.

Trout is batting .270 with 24 homers and 51 RBIs in 79 games this season, although he has just one multihit game and six total RBIs in the past three weeks.

France, heading into Sunday's series finale vs. the Texas Rangers, led the Mariners with a .306 batting average, 95 hits and a .396 on-base percentage.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale suffers fractured left pinkie on comebacker that hits hand

Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale suffered a fractured pinkie finger on his pitching hand when he was struck by a comebacker in the first inning Sunday against the New York Yankees.

With two outs, Aaron Hicks hit a 106.7 mph line drive off Sale's left hand. The ball deflected into center field as Gleyber Torres scored to give New York a 3-0 lead.

Sale screamed out in pain, immediately came off the field holding up his injured hand and was replaced by Hirokazu Sawamura. The Red Sox announced later Sunday that Sale has a left fifth finger fracture.

The 33-year-old Sale was making his second start since returning from a fractured rib that cost him the first three months of the season. He threw 78 pitches in five scoreless innings Tuesday at Tampa Bay and threw 24 pitches Sunday before leaving the game after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits while facing six batters.

During the major league lockout, Sale broke a rib while working out on his own.

Sale, who is signed through 2024 on a five-year, $145 million contract, has thrown just 48 1/3 innings over 11 starts for the Red Sox since the end of the 2019 season.

Last season, the seven-time All-Star went 5-1 with a 3.16 ERA in nine starts in his return from Tommy John surgery.
