John Elway reportedly missed out on chance to make close to $1 billion on Broncos sale

According to the Action Network’s Darren Rovell, Elway was once offered a minority ownership stake in the Broncos while he was still playing.

Here is an excerpt from Rovell’s story: “In September 1998, then Broncos owner Pat Bowlen offered Elway, who had just led the Broncos to their first Super Bowl title, a 10 percent piece of the team for the money that they had owed him ($21 million). Bowlen sweetened the deal by offering another 10 percent of the team for $15 million. ...

“At the $4.5 billion valuation, John Elway’s 20 percent stake that he could have gotten for $36 million would have been worth $900 million today, a 1,330 percent return, factoring for inflation. He also gave up the rights of first refusal to buy the rest of the team.”

It’s actually a bit more than that because 20% of $4.65 billion is $930 million.

Despite passing on the ownership stake, Elway made $45.4 million in his playing career, became general manager of the Broncos and they won Super Bowl 50. Elway also sold his car dealerships in 1997 for $82.5 million in stock.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said approval of the Broncos deal should take between 60 and 90 days, and “no issues are expected.” That means the new owners should take over in time for the 2022 NFL season.

Yo Yo, whats up fellas ???
How's everyone looking so far, in OTA's and Minicamp ???

49ers minicamp:

So far so good, with no major injuries
Just one of the rookie WR's pulled his hamstring, a couple weeks ago
The overall roster is still solid from top to bottom
I think our weakness will be the O-line (except Trent Williams)
We have a bunch of unknowns, a bunch of young guys competing
So I'm just not sure how that will play out, during the season
49ers are not winning the division this year (thats going to be the Rams)
But I see us competing (with the Cardinals) for one of those wild card spots

Trey Lance has looked noticeably better/improved over last year
He's not a fast dynamic runner like Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Josh Allen, or even Kaepernick
I see him more scrambling when the plays break down, rather a ton of designed runs
I'm thinking he will have roughly 450-500 yards running

His passing accuracy seems to have improved a little from last year
And he doesn't seem to make the stupid boneheaded decisions as Garoppolo did
But I'm sure the 9ers will want to lean on the run game early in the season, until they really trust Trey
If healthy for the full season...
I can see him having around 4,000-4,500 yards passing with a 65%-66% completion percentage
Maybe around 25-30 passing touchdowns, with 4-5 rushing touchdowns, but with 9-10 interceptions

Sadly he could've settled this shit after the grand jury declined to pursue charges, but he wanted to fight to prove his innocence :hmm: and now this shit has snowballed out of control. :hithead:
Yeah, just pay them hoes.

As game goofy as he is with this instagram-thot massage shit, it's crazy that civil cases and not criminal cases stand to fuck him up. They need to fix that shit.

see my quotes above...how long before you think Demeco Ryans a serious candidate for head coaching jobs

He's doing a pretty good job with the 49ers defense right now
But if the 9ers go on another deep playoff run
I can see Demeco being one of the next minority head coaches
He probably has another year or two left before he's gone :(
