Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey criticized for launching ‘Bitcoin Academy’ in Marcy Projects.

Fam our folks cant wait to attack our own, before its even up and running lol.

Lot of folks here really out of touch with and or do not know what NYC projects are like. This notion that people in low income housing do not have income is just not true. Go to the PJs and see how many people in REAL Gucci, Real J's, Real trash diamonds, there is money in the low income areas its just not allocated to the proper investments. I grew up in several projects in NY, but moms and pops were financially literate and understood the value of getting house. Seems like people are caught up on bitcoin but it doesnt seem like its just that. Imagine if our folks just took 1/10 of what we spent on Luxury Euro and invested in some BTC, or stocks, or etf?

Only our folks will find a way to criticize someone Black from the community trying to educate our own.

I have some BTC/ADA/ETH Im not super invested but I do realize it is here to stay in some form or fashion, Im a dinosaur but I still try and stay in the mix when it comes to financial literacy.

Peace

I've been collecting and flipping antiques for the past 10 years. I've always known how to get the bag but not how to flip the bag. I've bought pieces for $2500 and flipped them a year later for $5000. I got put on to the stock market 3 years ago, I can't believe people still put money in Banks. I've made money watching the trends on stocks like AMC. Certain stocks have a habit of moving up $1 every pre-market then going back to where they opened at before the opening bell. Basically whales are pumping and selling at the opening bell. Let's say you bought and sold with the whales everyday and you only had 1000 shares. That's $1000 a day before the opening bell @ 9:30am. This is shit we were never taught in school. I appreciate the lessons in finance any way they come.

I

Duh it's our fault we the worst. Hispanics know how to do such and such we don't. Blame black people duh

If you are one of the people who told me to kick rocks when I asked you to cut my grass for 25 $ when you are outside the store asking for free shit.

Then you got some shit to say when that messican did it and built a business.

When you use real issues as an excuse to do nothing cause THEY won't let you..

If you run your ass to spend money with crakkas instead of patronizing black business

Then yeah I blame you...

And from the posts you have made in this thread.......you are part of the problem

It isn't just Hispanics, it's black folks who come here as well...

work this is taught

this looks good...

Is it better for a person to know more about bitcoin and blockchain today than the knew about it all 6 months ago? I'd say yes.

As long as the course focuses on educating and not pushing get rich quick shit, I don't see the problem.

The crypto big-dogs can correct me anywhere I'm misspeaking, but: At the end of the day, at the very least, I still see BTC as a medium of exchange. Even beyond the value as a possible appreciating asset (like a share of stock), my first and most direct experience with BTC specifically is as THE medium of exchange that most folks count on for unregulated online transactions.

I think there is value in learning how that works. ESPECIALLY if/when it does become regulated and leads to bigger things down the road. In some way shape or form, at least one of these cryptos or smart contracts are going to play a role in the Digital Dollar, or in making foreign transactions faster. For our people to be introduced to information like this, and the chance that a handful may latch on and make a career of something that caught their attention thru exposure at this stage is a positive imo. (and I can't STAND Jiggaman, fyi)
It can be treated as a high-risk stock. Nothing more, nothing less. As long as that Academy teaches that, they should be fine.

I will start off saying I have cryptocurrency, but what do you need to be educated on with any cryptocurrency besides scanning coinmarketcap daily and scanning the South China Sea News website?

Can you use Bitcoin at Walmart or Target? I am not talking aboutbconverting it back to US fiat, but open up your Coinbase app and make a pirchase with it directly? How about can I use actual Bitcoin as a down payment for a mortgage?

He would do better teaching about ETFs with Vanguard or creating REITs, but it aint my business.

I would never want to dispute such an esteemed, business guru/genius such as yourself. My apologies.

However USD is not backed by anything either. Although USD is regulated, the good thing about crypto is that it is not regulated.

But that was not my point. I am saying yall know absolutely nothing about the curriculum or plans for this school, so how can you have such a negative opinion?
You sure about that, bruh? If you have a dollar in your pocket right now, take it out and read it.

"This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private".

The dollar is guaranteed by the US government.

Go learn some more about economics basics from Instagram...lol

Our folks about to be in line for Popeyes Chicken, and we really believe we about to overthrow capitalism? The problem is our folks continuously think collectively as a young people. That is a problem. The revolution is financial, but that way of thinking is not young. The only reason we fail in capitalism is because we give it back, and or dont monetize it. Just imagine if the 80s to now we have financially literate athletes and entertainers...

THIS is my point. Im an entrepreneur but my moms was like yo College college college. I did it, got a Masters, and was walking around broke as a joke with a prestigious position while my man at the crib was selling fish on the corner making 4x more than me. He purchased BUILDINGS in the BX and was CHILLING. We use to apartment hop and he would have PS2/3 in there we drinking eating, and go to another spot for an hour. I soaked up the game from him.

FF quit career and looked at my retirement and was like HOLY SHIT. Im 40 and have NOTHING. Got literate real quick just because I had too, and had the habits from school to study research and was juts disciplined. In 3 years I was good on retirement. 7 years deep, I can hang up my work days by 50 God willing. I wont but just saying literacy is EVERYTHING. I invested Heavy, purchased a home and started a couple of other business.

Thats from financial education. If you are a business owner you see parallels in ALL businesses, if you can learn one finical piece you can learn the rest. You think if cat learns BTC he not gonna be interested in stocks, and anything that gives you a return?
I appreciate your post. It baffles the mind, that some people think it's a bad idea for poor people to receive knowledge about investing in bitcoin.
In many book, it's never to early or late to learn about something.
The best time to receive financial literacy is when you're poor. So when you start to make money, you'll know exactly what to do and not to do.
We would all be better of if we started learning about these things in elementary school.

Can you imagine if the US government, after hell and highwater, finally decided to pay Black people our reparations but it will be in the form of Dogecoin or some shit like that?

Who, honestly, would be satisfied with that decision? I wouldn't. I want USD, Euros, British Pounds, and/or T-bonds. No other bullshit currency or crypto. That shit will have you needing a 1x10^18 note just to buy a loaf of bread. No thanks.

I’m not a crypto guy but have learned alot about it from folks on this board. Is some stuff bullshit? Certainly. But exposure to a new financial concept is priceless.

The USD is backed by debt but go ahead and keep teaching bro.

People want him (and other black wealthy people) to actually physically give out money. Just teaching and providing resources to achieve on your own is not enough for some.

Right, just physically give out money to people who do nothing for it.

It's the same in Miami with miMi coin criticism be abuse crypto lost so much earnings. Basically targeting poor people.

I swear if I could contact Jay directly and suggest this I would.

It's all over the news of a shortage, lots of strong brothers out there who can handle the work no reason one of these richncats can't drop 25k down to help their commumity. They make sure it's always some white approved or funded business where they can lower their taxes and pay the least.

Ends up on CNN like he doing something.

LMAO @ Bitcoin.

Bro, that's exactly what I'm saying. NYC? Man it's so many ways to help the people out a cdl can change people's life with the hustle.

Even online school like western governors university who h I go to now is a good idea.

Cheap too. 3995 a semester, plus the Pell grants for poor folks and kid benefits lol.

Cmon man these rich dudes tripping man.

I can't argue against this bro ^^^^

My point was before I go in and destroy this?

Can I least see some legitimate course description at the minimum?

Cause this could ALL be wrong info.

Course description for a cdl? That's at any technical center or trade school on NYC.

What you saying? No courses for college, reading the book, test and pass and get on the road.

I'm talking about what Jay and Dorsey have planned.

I want to know exactly what the curriculum is before I completely dismiss it.

He's not trying to help black folks. You seem to be missing this. Help would be money, better housing, jobs. Not trading something as volatile as Bitcoin with no income

Money, better housing for THOUSANDS of Marcy residents?

LOL you socialist really have no concept of money grounded in reality.

This is the some of the "resources" yall swear we need.

this is true...but I'm complaining because..I just hired 36 teens for summer work... paying them while teaching them how to do electrical and plumbing maintenance all summer, and opening up bank accounts for them all...with my knigha that run a local bank...brah
THIS is some BOSS shit. Teaching them how to fish, teaching them a trade that will pay them for life... Salute.

On another note, about Jay, I do have my hesitancy due to what he was doing years ago with the mortgage stuff he was doing "helping" low income folks but it was really predatory lending. So there's that.
