Fam, there's no need for a lot of things but people still have them. It's when they abuse them that others get hurt. There's thousands on top of thousands of people who own ARs who have absolutely no intention of doing anything malicious and are responsible owners.Gun laws aren't going to stop everyone fam but it's a start ................

There are rifles available now that aren't deemed as "assault weapons" that fire the same exact bullet caliber as an AR and at the same exact speed/rate. The only differences are visual since many of the accessories like optics, grips, bi-pods, etc... can all be retrofitted on them. There are other rifles that shoot even more powerful rounds and at almost the same rate that are also not deemed as assault weapons.
What happens when you ban ARs and then malicious people opt for a different rifle or pistol? It already happened at Columbine during the 90s Assault Weapon ban. Where does the propaganda and fear mongering end? When will politicians and media finally start focusing on the real issues of the people and the reasons or rationale behind their malice?

Similar has been said before but there are always some who push for it anyways & we've already seen laws subverted in favor of political favoritism so the possibility is not out of the question. I wouldn't put it in the "it'll never happen" category just off the strength of that
If that's what you want to believe then so be it. As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, there are multiple rifles that fire the same round as an AR but aren't considered to be "assault weapons" out there. The AR catches heat cuz it's the most popular and aesthetically looks intimidating but overall does the exact same thing a "non assault rifle" like the Ruger Mini 14 does.
There are also various pistol calibers that can do hella damage as well. Even if you lower mag capacity to 10 rounds, one can easily do mag reloads in a fast time & unload a shit load of rounds at their intended target.

False. Thousands of responsible AR owners speak to the contrary. It's very possible that you interact with at least 10 people every week and have absolutely no idea that they own one.
If you don't own an AR nor have any intention to own one then that's perfectly fine. But to make blanket statements as if there aren't thousands of people who contradict that claim in itself is unfair and an inaccurate generalization
You speak some truth but not the facts. Countries without these weapons don't have these issues. It's an undisputed fact. It works. Not to mention the mass corruption from the NRA and gun manufacture immunity. No other industriy has that protection. And I have an AR.
I'm not disputing any of that especially the parts about the NRA corruption but we also need to keep in mind that those countries don't have a constitution with any bills similar to the 2nd Amendment so the government is allowed to fully dictate what the citizens are allowed to have and not have. That plays a huge role and is why trying to do the same over here is so challenging.
