LOVED THIS SERIES

Thanks for the co-sign, @playahaitian . Sounds good, @ZuluSam .

My mom was in town last weekend and I told her to bring her flashdrive with her so that I could refresh it.

I added The Tourist, The Responder, and some other assorted TV series episodes & movies to it. Showed her a few episodes of Mr. Inbetween and she liked the show. Told her I would add those (and Yellowstone) later in the year.

Last year when I visited her, I had added Vigil, Reservation Dogs, and Only Murders in the Building to the flashdrive. They really enjoyed those & shared those with some of their friends as well.

Murders in the building was good?!?

Yes. It was funny. Believe it returns for season 2 this summer.

Steve Martin and Martin Short have that funny long-term chemistry. And having Selena Gomez playing the "straight woman" with her flat, monotone delivery was humorous. She's basically in her mid-20s to their approx' 70'ish, and they made for an interesting trio. Some funny commentary on the over abundance of true crime podcasts out there too. How deeply they get invested, etc.

Thank you for all your work and contributions.

I think what worked well for the series is that Martin Short is always ridiculous and over the top. Steve Martin plays serious / funny well. Having Selena in there was a funny way to make them an odd couple / trio. She's so calm and reserved, so it was funny watching her "no sell" some of the silly moments. Especially being a comedy-drama with no laugh track.

Gonna check out Hacks - episodes 3 and 4 - early next week. Gonna finish Better Call Saul's last episode of part 1 (final season) then too.

I think the best thing about the current tech / digital age is that it's so easy to get the full picture when it comes to the media / entertainment worth a look. If something's on your radar, you can quickly check the forums & message boards for the early takes, the aggregate score sites like Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic, and the trusted podcasters & TV + Movie reporters or entertainment sites you visit regularly. Just open up a BUNCH of windows or tabs and you're good to go. You'll see a wide array of scores and formulate your take(s) from there. And when that buzz is steady, you know something's worth investing into. These past 20-something years of TV have been something else. It's impossible to keep up with everything, and it's funny reading everyone's reviews on content wherein we are trying NOT to spoil anything for people who plan on checking it out months OR years from now. We're all trying to CATCH UP with all the good shit out there.

Compared to yesteryear when we would have to check the entertainment magazines for reviews, lol. And when there wasn't as much "prestige TV", etc.

Thank God for the internet, haha.

@Helico-pterFunk

Questions....

Are you as interested in the behind the scenes stuff?

Like the merger of hbo and paramount or the deconstruction of the WB?

the gossip stuff like the drugs and affairs between the cast of Mayans?

Or you more just focused on the actual CONTENT period?

Good questions.

Most focused on the content overall.

The gossip stuff is interesting. Didn't know about the stuff going on with the Mayans cast. I only caught a bit of the 1st season. Didn't have FX until recent years, so didn't happen to see Sons of Anarchy or some of their other big shows. Need to get caught up over time. Have On Demand now from Crave (in Canada) and they include back catalogues for FX, HBO, Showtime, etc.

The merger / acquisition / deconstruction stuff is interesting. Especially now with how flooded the market is with streamers and platforms. I listen to podcasts like The Watch and the Hollywood Reporter's TV's Top 5, and they have talking points around the business, so I catch up that way & then sometimes circle back and check the sites for Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Vulture for follow up reading. Thanks for posting those articles in your threads too. Good way to update those threads when further developments happen.

Now and Then

Now and Then is a multi-layered thriller that explores the differences between youthful aspirations and the reality of adulthood, when the lives of a group of college best friends are forever changed after a celebratory weekend ends up with one of them dead. Now, 20 years later, the remaining five are reluctantly reunited by a threat that puts their seemingly perfect worlds at risk.

Trailer grabs u from the 1st 15 seconds ..:eek2:

I still dont like Rosie Perez`s acting ...jus dunno ...

Anybody finish that last season of BLACK MONDAY on showtime?

I started in on it - S3 - but it was harder to follow and the laughs weren’t seeming to come like they did for me in S1 and S2

Lmk if it picks up after the first 2-3 episodes

I know they cancelled it so whatever it is - that’s all it’ll be from here…

What channel or service I guess lol is that Origins of Hip Hop on?

props on the only murders date too. That’s one I hope more than matches S1

Looks like they have it on A&E. They had a good documentary on Biggie on the channel some yrs back too.

Yeah - hopefully Only Murders is a good watch again. S1 was a fun watch last yr.

Devils

Season 2 out

@Helico-pterFunk Just finished s5 of peaky blinders, got these last 6 eps left, theres supposed to be a movie that wraps it all up still coming right like how they did for Ray Donovan and going to do for The Last Kingdom?

Yes - apparently there will be a movie at some point. Don't recall any specific year / timeline for that. In recent years there was some talk about a spinoff series potentially in the works. Tough to say.

Overall the last season isn't as strong as prior seasons. You could definitely sense the smaller scale of it (due to covid changes and all) ... but we thought the series finale was solid. It had a good amount of tension and was entertaining.

Are you watching via streams online at the moment? As it aired in recent months from Feb to April on BBC One. If I remember correctly, Netflix will pick up the season in June for larger worldwide viewership.

Enjoy!

:cheers::thumbsup:

Yeah watching it on streams, gonna stream the last 6 eps soon as i'm currently down to 3 weekly tv shows before my June releases.

Nice. It's good to have those pockets of time to catch up on series before the next releases (June).

It's funny how many choices we have out there on the TV landscape these days. I have stuff On Demand, on flashdrives, and on DVR ... trying to figure out in which order to check them out. What's more worthwhile, lol.
