Under the Banner of Heaven

Under the Banner of Heaven centers on a devout detective whose faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder that seems to be connected to an esteemed Utah family’s spiral into LDS fundamentalism and their distrust in the government.

I dont think i trust spider-man to nail this role ...dude acts the same way in every role ...lol

Noughts and Crosses

season 2 started

Tired of life on the run, Callum and Sephy are forced to extreme measures as they try to flee Albion for good. Meanwhile, hate crime against Noughts is on the rise.

Set in a dangerous, alternate world where racism divides society, Noughts + Crosses follows two young people Sephy and Callum, who are divided by their colour but united by love. Sephy is a ‘Cross’, a member of the black ruling class and daughter of a prominent politician. Callum is a ‘Nought’, a white member of the underclass. The two have been friends since early childhood but their relationship grows ever more complicated as they come of age. It’s the story of two families separated by power and prejudice but forever entwined by fate.

BBC come up with some good shows ..

i actually read the Plot ...i wish this was reality ...

Looking forward to checking out this series in June. Big fan of the lead's work in years past on Fargo, Reservation Dogs, etc. Happened across this trailer by chance the other day.

Dark Winds is an upcoming American psychological thriller television series created by Graham Roland based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman. The first season will consist of six episodes, and is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on June 12, 2022.[1]

Ok Viola Davis's portrayal of Michelle Obama is kind of off with the turned up and pursed lips but it's still an interesting show as we're shown the roles various first ladies played in there husbands careers as Presidents. Oh and Viola wears this form fitting outfit in episode 2 that fits her like a glove......NICE

The Offer on Paramount is pretty good and if you love film ,TV HISTORY and The Godfather you will definitely love this series. Some of the facts about the making of the movie were surprising to me

I have looking forward to the offer for minute

Current 3rd season of Barry has been very good thus far.

Have 3 episodes to go with the final season (part 2) of Ozark.

All caught up with Better Call Saul. Good stuff with Gus Fring on the most recent episode.

Gonna start The Wilds season 2 shortly. Thought the 1st season was pretty good, and they left it on a nice cliffhanger at the end.

I am looking forward to this!

I had no idea I would like this show so much

Agreed. Enjoyed how they balanced the comedic with the dramatic. The clashing of a 20-something with a late-60s something. Jean Smart getting that additional shine later in her career.

Good end of the trailer at the 2 minute mark with the guy saying he doesn't like comedy - everybody's trying too hard, it's awkward.

Sent the trailer to my dad and he said yeah, after so many decades of unfunny TV comedies with canned laughter ... it's good to get more regular comedies now WITHOUT canned laughter. Stuff's either funny, or it isn't ... don't try to force-feed the laughs.

The Offer just pulled me in n left me stranded ...:bullshit:

when is ep 4 airing ...

The second season of The Flight Attendant show is still funny and fun and Kaley Cuko and Rosie Perez are cute but i think they are going overboard with Cassandra zoning out and speaking to her past and future selves it feels like filler

Under the Banner of Heaven on HULU is a good mix of a murder mystery and history lesson about the Mormon faith. It's interesting what the characters will conform to but that doesnt stop some from acting out in sometimes violent and sinister ways.

After a heavy release months for me in March and April it looks light in May, prolly will check out Angelyne on Peacock and Pistol on Hulu. Going to take this time to watch the rest of Peaky Blinders, @Helico-pterFunk Ive gotten to the middle of s3 and dam this shit is good, Cillian Murphy killing it as Thomas Shelby and the cast is strong overall

Glad you're liking it. Yeah - great role for Murphy. Plays it really well. It slows down a bit in the most recent final season, but overall we quite liked the finale. The real-life cancer death of "Aunt Pol" definitely had an impact. She was always good to have around on the series.

Gonna check out the trailers for Angelyne and Pistol that you mentioned.

Looking forward to Stranger Things returning in late-May, and Dark Winds in mid-June. Happened across the trailer for it within the past week or so -

@playahaitian

One of the best scenes from last week's episode of Barry. Watch how he ramps up the intensity at the 1-minute mark, and remember he is a comedic actor by nature. Dude can act. And on the series Sally's history dates back to being in an abusive relationship.

Interesting side note - the girl with the short hair in the background on the right - Elsie Fisher - was the star of the great movie Eighth Grade a handful of years back. Recommend that one.

I listened to this podcast episode in my rotation yesterday. She explains her journey to making the show, Playa. It's a pretty good listen. I had a chance to see the 1st episode earlier in the week. Thanks for recommending it. Good points you made about the "pain, frustration, longing, angst and anger just beneath the surface ..."
